Goin Back to a Wing, what is the market right now? Anybody know??

Hi Everyone, I'm Tom been ridin harleys for last few years but goin back
to a 1500 Wing for touring. The later (07 up) harley ultra classics seem to be going for 10 grand and up and I'm not paying that when a GL15 is a better tourer IMO

Question IS what is a 98-99 GL 1500 going for right now? I've seen prices all OVER the board with no rhyme or reason. I would like a CLEAN 98-2000 1500 miles unimportant that has been kept up and is ready to go. I am NOT riding a doggy lookin one. (and I've seen em) life's too short for that. I had a 91 way back when would like something similiar condition. What should I pay for a nice one?

Welcome (back) Tom!

'fraid I don't have much to contribute on pricing of Wings in your target year and target geography.

Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. Its having the right attitudes that's hard.

The really nice 98-00 ones are going for $4-6500. Some travel may b needed to find one, but that just means a road trip to get home. Be patient someone will be along shortly with what's available. Have you considered a 1800? The 01-05's can be found for $4-7500 with some patience/perseverance.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
You may find a good one on Craigslist. A forum member just bought a nice one for a reasonable price, it also depends upon how far you want to travel to get that nice Wing too.

Careful of those from coastal cities as far as inspecting closely for corrosion, just like those from the Northern "road brine" states.

Thanks, Everybody!!

I found a super nice 98 SE with only 29K on the clock, new tires, carbs done, timing belt done all fluids changed within the last 500 miles for 4000. It looks like a nice one, but I'll have to travel 5 1/2 hrs to get it
(he wont let me buy it and have shipped wants me to be happy...hope I can talk him into that cause 12 hours on the road in one day is too much)

Alternatively, as one poster said I can cough up a few thousand more and find a nice GL1800, (which I've never rode) Maybe I need to go ride one?

I think you should just jump on SW Cattle Car and ride it home!!!

that is exactly what I did, flew from Phoenix, AZ to Tampa, FL and took a two week vacation riding my 98SE home and visiting with a bunch of my very good forum friends

SW Cattle Car was having a one way sale a bit ago for $69.00

If you are not prepared to buy an 1800 do not ride one.
