Greetings All!



I hope one of you out in Wingland can help me?

After 9 years with a 1500 I have just aquired an 1100 Aspencade like the one I had in my youth!

But what I cant remember is;

Is it possible to take the dummy tank off without having to strip half the bike down? I seem to remember two bolts holding the front end on, but on this one (An American import) the same two bolts seem to be holding the fairing frame on as well?

Any help would be much apreciated as I wish to change the brake hoses for metal ones.

It is best to remove the lower fairing parts (three screws on each side) but it is possible to remove the two screws with a long extension with a 10mm socket through the fairing louvers, without removing the fairing parts...... in all there are 4 bolts on the fake tank... two at the front and two at the back after removing the seat..

I agree, much easier to remove the fairing lowers.

Unless you have chrome shark gill add-ons to your lowers, then fugeaboutit....

Once you put the chrome gills on, there is no straight shot to the bolt anymore, go gotta take the lowers off then.

It's a tight knuckle-dusting fit at the best of times. And when you put it back on watch that you don't disconnect some of the wiring near the front of the frame.

I agree - it's the damn pneumatic hoses (too short!!) at the front, for the compressor controls, that drive me crazy. For that reason, a lot of the time, I end up removing the bolts, then just propping the back of the tank up with a screwdriver, and working underneath it, rather than removing it entirely.

I did not reinstall the front bolts on the dummy tank when I put it back on. I only have the ones at the back and I have no problem with vibration.
