I may have lost the key (not for my Wing) for the little compartment on my Honda Shadow that holds the took kit. Can a Honda dealer produce a replacement key? What info do I need to provide?

Are you sure it uses a key? My wife had a 2000 A.C.E. and it was just a latch that looked like a lock but could be operated with any key or a screwdriver. Her new2009 is the same.

I tried the ignition key and it doesn't work in the lock. My bike is the same as your wife's, so I'll try other keys or a screwdriver.

RB, how do I access the back of the lock if I can't open the compartment? Are you saying that it's inside the compartment somewhere?

Most bikes use the same key for all locks on the bike any lock on the bike or ignition has a code number..also with the vin number of the bike some dealers can access key codes.

Try this forum. Someone there might be able to help you. http://www.hondashadow.net/index.php

The only difference between my wife's bike and yours is cc's. Hers was a 750, but I don't know why that would make a great difference. If you can somehow get the compartment open, take the lock out and take it to a good locksmith who will be able to make you a key.
