My hondaline CB , on my GL 1800 air bag , year 2006 ,can not RECEIVE any more . I installed it one year ago , and has not had any problems so far , but suddenly one day , travelling with a friend , i could`t hear him anymore . I can transmit and everyone can hear me clearly , in 2 miles distance or more . The problem is the same on headset or speakers . When i turn down the squelsh to 2, i will receive some " white noise " , ( and the RX sign will show up on the display , and the radio/cd will mute ) , but the "white noise" is not so loud ,as it was when it worked OK .

Do you think this problem is in the CB unit itself , or ??? ( Yes i have checked the settings , and i now what the different switches are for ).

Thank you for any help .

Since it can transmit I would say the antenna is still connected properly. Also i would say the mic is working. About the only thing that leaves is the radio itself.

Have you checked a couple simple things first?
When you push the PTT switch, do you see TX on the dash? If so have you tried swapping out helmets and cords with another set or a buddies set? Do you have a passenger PTT switch?

Yes the TX is coming on , and as i told , everybody can hear me clearly . Yes i have tried another helmet( but i dont think it is an issue , when i can`t receive thru the speakers either ). No i dont have the passenger switch . ( nobody dares to ride with me , LOL ).

Sorry to bear bad news Smeden, but your CB unit is bad. Check for water damage, a lot of GL1800's leak water into the trunk and it pools under the CB radio.

chris in va , -yes i nov this joke (some of us ,once acted as we could not hear a guy with a brand new self installation , and it was great fun for all , except one).
BUT i have checked that , and the problem is not located there .
englishted , -there is no sign off water , but i think i will borrow another unit ,and check with that .
BY THE WAY - some says that the Clarion unit is more reliable than the Radio Sound ,any comments ?

I think you are doing the right thing by borrowing another unit to test, however it is sounding more and more like the radio is a problem. I believe Sierra Electronics.. Sierra-mc.com can repair your CB radio if it is out of warrantee.
Unfortunatly ther are here in Nevada, USA.
