I just purchased an '07 Goldwing. I understand to update the Nav system you remove the card and somehow update it...my question is...how do you update it? Or is this a dealer thing?

I just love my Nav on the 2010. I like looking at the Nav and I'm riding thru a big open green field with no street. I look down and I see a road under the tires. If the 2009 map was up to date it would have had this main road on it. The map is OK as long as your road you wish to travel on is at least 10 years old, then it might be on the map. I can't believe Garmin can't keep up to date with maps. They charge enough for them. I think I will start looking at the GPS forum for up to date maps. I might get lucky and find a good map that has been formatted for the 2010 GoldWing and it's SD card.

If you use the In button on the left handlebar switch the nav switches to shorter and shorter distances. Get close enough and the road you are on should appear on the screen.

I just got a 2010 called Garmin about any updates there are none right now. There working on one which we will have to pay for in months to come. The rep told me that Honda controls the pricing of the updates, had i know this i would have never purchased the Navi system. But my navi seems to work fine for me. has a lot of features just need to learn how to operate it. As for updates there are many ways to get them when there released. Will be looking forward to that project To.

Kind on involved answer,so bear w/me.

1. Yes, there is an update available from Garmin.

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?...rue#featureTab

However:

a. It's $149.00

b.There have been no new updates since April 0f 08.

2. Garmin has supposedly agreed tosupport the older system(2006-2008)w/new yearly updated CF cards reported to be avail each August. However, I have yet to see any updates issued since 08.

So basically we're stuck w/a very expensive, outdated, non-user friendly system no longer in production.
