I was wondering if there is an easy way to access the raditor cap to my 1985 Honda 1200 Aspencade. I have a friend who has an earlier model (same make/model) and his front end tips forward exposing his radiator and other components making them more accessible. Please help!

You should be able to get the cap off, but it can be hard to get a good grip with the tank shelter in the way. Instructions for taking the shelter and saddle off are in the timing belts article here; http://www.goldwingfacts.com/1200timingbelts.htm
There was a post a few years back about using a piece of PVC pipe cut to length and notching it for the ears of the radiator cap. I don't remember the the I.D. Yeh, it's a pain to get to with the shelter on. AND ANOTHER WELCOME... :gunhead:
Here is a post from another thread about this subject from member exavid.
"My 1200SEI was a real bear to get the cap off the radiator. I rigged up a short piece of PVC pipe with notches in one end that I could poke down beside the faux tank, push a few wires away and slip it over the radiator cap. A quick twist and I could reach down and fish the cap out. Putting it back on was about the same but I used a rubber band passed through two holes in the pipe end and over the radiator cap ears to hold it on the pipe until I had it in position. Crude but it worked. Of course if your expansion bottle and its plumbing is in good shape it's easy to look into that to check on the amount of coolant for normal checks."
I think I have seen on others posts about this that a 2 inch pvc pipe is about the right size.
Seems like that PVC thing will only work with aftermarket caps. OEM caps have no ears.
Some just have their wives reach in there. Small hands work better in tight places.
