I have several non-working bulbs in the instrument panel on my recently purchased '89. Is there a list of ALL the bulbs that can be replaced? I understand there are about 28. I looked thru the Service Manual and came up empty.

Go here: http://www.goldwingdocs.com/Manuals.aspand you should be able to find a service manual and a parts manual which will show the necessary bulbs. Don't do what I first did on my 1500. I pulled the instrument panel and replaced all but a couple that looked good, no blackening or anything. That was a mistake because two weeks later I was pulling the panel once again. One thing you'll need is either some of those little blueplastic condom looking things that go over the bulb or some blue marking pens. I used marking pens to coat the bulbs to get the blue effect that the original lights with the blue plastic stuff on them had. Some have replaced the bulbs with LEDs but I don't think you can get as even looking light with them, more hot spots and dim areas.

It ain't that hard a job, I had a couple out on my 97 in 2010, so over the winter 10-11 I collected bulbs enough to do most, used LL bulbs, same wattage as original, and replaced the hi beam ind, signal ind, red warning ind lights and the several speedo / tach / gauge illumination lamps.

My '97 still had the original bulbs and those blue condoms on the illumination lamps which I tossed into a spares box, the speedo and such are much easier seen at night with the "unprotected" bulbs (sans them blue condoms).

Many of the bulbs are replaceable without removing the instrument panel, but it really isn't so hard either way so if you don't get them all, not a big deal. Get the most important ones. The center digital panel still lights up blue, the speedo numbers and hash marks white. Looks nice.

Watch those plastic colored inserts over warning lights, they can fall out.
