My 1500 has been acting up when I put it in reverse for a couple of months. Sometimes it did not want to disengage to allow bike to start if I cut it off. I would have to play with the lever for several minutes to get a "nuetral" light, allowing the bike to start. Today I went to put it in reverse and it did nothing. No light indicating it is in reverse, and when I pressed the starter bitton it would not move. Any ideas what to check?

This will most often be related to the revese lever switch.

the reverse lever switch is located beneath the left inner fairing and rides on a little cam that the reverse lever causes to rotate as the lever moves.

When dirty, the reverse switch acts exactly as you describe

Can anyone tell me how to remove inner fairing to gain access to the reverse switch? I need to clean it.

Do you have a repair manual for your bike? That is your #1 tool you need.
This should have been asked in your first post on reverse same with the last question. This clutters up the forum and makes it hard to know what info has been given you already.

Grambo --- the bolt is a hex-head that is in pivot point of the reverse lever... (the cover on the reverse lever slides off to reveal the head of this bolt)

O.K. I tried contact cleaner on the switch( actually I sprayed it without removing plastic), I checked my fuses. Still no reverse. What's next?
