'84 Gl1200 carb fuel line
I have had a bit of a fuel leak on my new to me Aspencade, it looked like a stuck float or worn float needle on No4 carb. I pulled the set and fitted new needle seats and needles and fitted new bowl gaskets, none of the floats are leaking.
Running the engine and the leak is worse, its obvious its not the floats or fuel level.
I think that the cross fuel pipe between two carbs is the problem, they move side to side easily and can be turned with finger pressure surely this isn't right? are the pipes easy to pull and fit new seals if they are available?
Is there a way of finding a leak with carbs removed?

in the meantime I've pulled the carb bank from my 150,000 mile Interstate (which is down to fix the frame lower cross member) and fitted it to the Aspy which now runs as it should with no leaks. I still want to sort the original carbs though.

Thanks for your replies:bow:

that connector pipe that goes between carbs has an o-ring on both ends and this is probably your problem, pull the carbs and replace the o-ring while the carb rack is out you can hook up a fuel supply line that is gravity feed.i use a 2 liter bottle with the bottom cut out and a small line thru the cap, sorta looks like an I V ,hook this to the rack and pour some fuel in the bottle once the bowls fill you'll be able to check for leaks, you can also do this when you first pull the carb rack to see if it is the o-ring js the problem
