2005 GL-1800 Windshield Mounting Hardware???

Tearing down the GL1800 I'm finding some things I'm not sure about. Today's issue is with the mounting hardware for the windshield. On the windshield there are 5 oval cutouts similar to my GL1500.

On my 1500 all 5 holes have the mounting hardware to secure the windshield. On this 2005 GL1800 I'm finding mounting hardware on only 3 of the mounting holes. The center, the left and rights sides are the only holes with hardware. I have Fred Harmon's DVD series and in his windshield removal demo (not sure what year bike) he shows mounting hardware in all five holes.

Has Honda changed the way to mount the windshield on the 05 model GL1800 or has someone removed some of the hardware when they replaced the windshield.

Thanks in advance... DJ

No need for any more than 3, the clamp bar holds it in place, the 2 outer screws only locate it and the center is for the ratchet.

mounting holes

Both my 01 and 02 have 5 mounting holes. I have windshields from three different manufacturers and one OEM. They all have 5 holes. It would seem that Honda made a change in the newer models. I checked on Partzilla and they show 5 holes for the older models and 3 for the newer ones.

Who knew!!

I've learned so much from my mistakes, I'm thinking about making a few more.

Thank you all...

That explains why my 05 looks different than I expected to find.
