GL 1100 Xtra Water Pump O-Ring??

I'm replacing the water pump in my 83 GL1100i and I bought the 17 piece gasket set. It comes with 10 O-Rings but I only have use for 9. Can anyone confirm this to calm my fears that I messed something up? Is there an extra ring for another model or pump rebuild? I was led to believe Id use all the o rings.

I think they use the same gasket for the 1200. it is needed for the 1200 not the 1100. they gasket set you probably have fits from 1975 to 1987. 1000,1100 and the 1200 T29-2286, T29-2287 K&L Supply

I can only come up with 9 places for o-rings.

IT's been a while, but when I changed the water pump in one of my 1985 1200 LTD''s it seems I had a leftover o-ring and it haunted me forever. That was about 40K ago, and still going strong, so.... I still have the o-ring...just in case.

When I buy any "kit" it is not unusual to have extras to make the kit more inclusive.

Thanks. There must just be an extra. After triple checking everything it's been put back together. Putting in the radiator today and we'll see if it leaks. Fingers crossed.

Decades ago I found that the Honda fiche was missing an O-ring under the front cover. I had to bring the old one in to match it up. After that I made my own list that I would bring to the dealer when I needed to do a water pump. Not sure if they ever corrected the error.

Bill, that's interesting and kind of a major mistake. I'm glad for the forum to catch these things and provide such detailed help.

Happy to report no leaks so far. Let it warm up and go through two fan cycles. I'm pretty relieved since it's getting warm out and times to ride! I plan to ride a while and then tackle a carb sync.
