For those of you who will still be in state this weekend.

The Moving Wall, the only replica of the Vietnam
Veterans Memorial located in Washington, D.C., will be on display in Garnett from September 3 to September 7, 2009 at Veteran's Memorial Park (a/k/a South Lake Park). The wall is being brought to Garnett to honor and remember the 2.7 million men and women who served in the U.S. Military in Vietnam. The Moving Wall was created in 1983 and is maintained by Vietnam veterans and their friends through private support and is not government funded.
(The aluminum wall is 253 feet in length and consists of 74 separate frames. )As of January 1, 2009 there are 58,261 names listed on the memorial. Approximately 1,300 of these are still unaccounted for prisoners of war and missing in action. The names are in chronological order, according to the date of casualty. A directory of the names will accompany the wall to help family and friends locate names. Name rubbings will be permitted.
The Moving Wall will be open to the public 24 hours a day for the five days it is in Garnett.

Saw the replica in West Newton, Pa. this year and the real wall in D.C. two years ago. Very moving experience. If you don't get tears in your eyes, something is wrong. The most powerful place I have ever been to is the crash site in Shanksville, Pa. You can actually feel a powerful presence there.
