Ok we know salt melts ice, why not formulate a spray on roof coating that is basically a form of rock salt that could be applied to keep it melted on contact . Something that would last a while and not kill the shrubbery and plants , grass etc. ?? Something in a flexible , durable base, that could be walked on and not crack up.

Why? I have snow on my roof longer than anyone around me because of the amount of insulation in my attic space.

The snow just adds to the insulation of keeping heat inside of the house.

We have never had enough snow to worry about roof collapse. Last year only had about 2 1/2 feet of snow on the roof at one time.

Why would you worry about melting snow on the roof??

Just askin'

Well there are areas that get a little more than you guys you know. And it is a problem I just saw something on tv about a roof collapse on a large building causing very expensive damage there.
