I have a Compufire system on my 1500 Goldwing. The alternator failed and I need to know if it can be rebuilt or repaired in the Houston TX area.

I would think that Ken Hemmings from this forum as well a most alternator/starter shops in your area would be able to repair it?

It is some type of auto alternator but I can't remember which make or model. Think it is a Saturn but no idea which.

Wonder what type of brushes the Compufire uses? I have a friend here who has one with over 200.000 miles on his Compufire, and was thinking of changing brushes. The guy at the auto parts store had never seen brushes like them before, and couldn`t match him up with a set. Maybe Ken can sell him a set of brushes. He said they should fit a Saturn, but still no luck.

I fix alternators and starters, send me pictures. I can get the part numbers for you if you can get pictures and as much info as you have.
Good luck.

I took it to a local alternator repair shop as advised above. No problem - brushes - 60 bucks.  Thanks again for the advice.
