racingbanker16 wrote: This is the valve that I plan to use if/when my present valve malfunctions. Fred, the problem is not with the invoice, the kit itself is wrong for my petcock. The main, (large) diaphragm in the kit is 1/2 the size of the one that was inside my shut off valve. That must be the difference between the two kits, different diaphragms. Once i verify what kit I have, I'll post it on the for sale board to recoup my costs.... I ordered the electric valve today. I will post when it comes in & how it fits in the old vacuum valves position.

Mystery solved, I contacted Wexy & here's his reply; _____Original Message_____ From: wexy Date: 2012-02-08 04:33:46 Subject: Re: No ,the older model has the larger diaphram , measuring roughly 2" across , the number on the box for the older one is 7743536 and the newer on is 743541 Wexy, Honda must have had some '96 valves left over & used them on early '97 models. My bike is a '97 with a 7-96 build date & I have the larger diaphram. The kit I bought for a '97 has the smaller diaphram. So that solves the mystery. Thank you for your expertise & replies....-Rich Last edited on Wed Feb 8th, 2012 01:38 pm by Redeye1620 ____________________ Everybody going faster than me is a "Maniac". If you have a 743541 for the newer petcock, I would get it from you if you would?

Just for reference I used a petcock from a Honda st 1100 pan European which are all most the same and available second hand in the uk.i don't know if you got the st 1100 in the USA but rebuild kits are becoming very rare in the uk. Glennuk

Update, I went with the Dan-Marc http://www.dan-marc.com/79-afc1231412.html electric valve. It fits in the spill tray & with a couple of brass fittings from Napa, all is well again with the wing. I also replaced the fuel lines from the tank to the valve & the fuel filter at the same time. With the new high out put alternator I should be good for another 16 years of winging.....-Rich Last edited on Tue Feb 14th, 2012 08:59 pm by Redeye1620 ____________________ Everybody going faster than me is a "Maniac". Funny guys, my mechanic just informed me the petcock is leaking. Hey 19 years old, he said I will look for the parts, should I encourage him to go electric or let him hunt down a rebuild kit.

There are no rebuild kits available anywhere. You can buy used valves, rebuilt valves, (although I don't know where the rebuilder is getting kits), or you buy new valves http://tinyurl.com/7nxdug3. I know ALEX BERECZKY has a couple of petcocks for sale as of a week ago. Or I have read you can bypass the valve all together, as some have done w/o any problems. Or you can go electric for about a total cost of about $65.00.
