The widest point would be from valve cover to valve cover. A quick measurement on mine is about 29 inches. Certainly no more than 30.

I'm thinking you should have the engine before you go to far as you need to desgin it around the engine mounts upper and lower.
is this going to be front engine or mid engine buggy. I'm thinking it will get pretty long if mid engine with the drive shaft and all. would be like sitting where the front wheel is on the 15oo then the front wheels infront of you.

I would think the oil filter is the furthest point forward and the alternator is furthest rear ward. And the lowest point would be the sump and top of carbs are the highest. Just going by memory here. Mine is in covered with the panels and can't be any more help.

No exhaust, radiators or air filter box figured in the above.

Welcome, Welcome  To  Steve Saunders Goldwing Forum. If you have any questions no matter how trivial they may seem this forum is the place to ask them. What I have noticed is that some of the people here were :15red:'s in their previous lives and can answer any question you have. The forums that I get the most from are::

Goldwing Technical Forum

General Motorcycle Discussion Forum

 These have the best info about Goldwing’s and are where you ask questions and can get help..

For Sale/Wanted Forum Good stuff for Sale or if you have old parts sitting around the garage you would like to get rid of....

:18red::15red::12red::11red:

 And when all you need is a good laugh to start your day try the:: Fun Forum  After that it’s up to you which of the others you will like the best all I can do is suggest.

Again Welcome to the Forum...

 Oh and did I mention everyone here loves pictures.. Show us some of yours... Even if it’s not a Goldwing just a pretty view

I'm replacing the alternator on my 1500 & have the side covers off. By my measurements the engine is 30 inches wide valve cover to valve cover & about 33 inches from the front timing cover to the rear if the alternator. The timing cover is about 1 inch forward of the oil filter....-Rich
