I hope you can find someone willing to resume the work Jock. I don't know many mechanics who would be willing to take on a job that has already been stripped down. Mechanics don't like assembling jigsaws they didn't pull apart themselves. Good luck with that mate.

It is going to the garage that I wanted it to go to in the first place but who could not take it due to their workload/forward workload at the time. They are nervous but agreed to take it as they are as pissed of about it as I am. Bonus is that the mechanic is a winger himself and runs a 1500. Just have to get it there now. Thanks for the support guys.

I have watched this thread closely because I had a job coming in like the ones in this thread. Here is what i did: i had a customer with a 1990 GL1500 with the dreaded 4th gear problem. I have never removed a 1500 engine or tore one down. So this would be new ground for us. The owner already went out and bought another GL1500 so I was to get this one fixed as soon as possible. We determined that time would be best served by buying a used motor. So that is the route we took. My son Levi did all the work. He is our shop mechanic. In 5 hours he had the motor on the floor. There was some motor prep and changing some componets. Then installation. This bikr was a show bike with about a thousand lights and wires running everywhere so that took a lot of time getting everything working and other add ons put back together. The bike is now together and running fine. Total cost including the motor and other service items and installation came in at just under $1700.00. Not to bad and customer is very happy. Thanks, BMS

Hi guys, the trike is now moved in bits to my prefered garage on 13 February. Unfortunatly shifter and gasket set are on back order from Honda so holding up the rebuild but should be here this week. Have just started court action to try and re-claim the £1000 that I advanceed to the first garage who stripped her down and left her. probably take about 10 weeks to see that through. Thanks for the replies will update when any further forward.
