the rpms were working fine before I did the spark plugs. It wouldn't go past 6 after I replaced the spark plugs and caps today. Tthats why I was thinking it might be something with the plugs. The bike ran good after I put in a new battery.

The old caps have resisters in them. Did you replace them with the same kind?

I checged all my gaps on the plugs there all good. So I took off my radiator and cover to belts and they look like they brand new so now I don't know what to do. The bike still won't go past 6000 rpms and deffinatly lost a lot of power

Did someone write down what mileage the belts were changed? Sometimes written under the cover somewhere. You can't tell by looking at them. Probably a carb problem, sticky slides, blocked jets. ????

The reason I suspect they were done recent cause the marks he put on the pully look really fresh still. and 2 bolts r missin next to the middle pully. Would replacing the plugs and caps make carberater act up now. When she was runnin fool rpms before the plugs.

Still think it is some loose debris in the carbs from sitting so long. But it could be bad coils. Have you checked if all the plugs are getting a spark? Pull each wire while the motor is running and see if there is a change in rpm.

If it was fine before you did this and is not now, something in what you did, or the parts you used, is wrong. So first, using what you have there. Run the engine. With insulated pliers, pull one ignition lead off at a time and see if the revs drop. If so, next step. In that lead, use an old but good plug in the cap. Hold the plug with insulated pliers (or for a bit of fun get your mate to hold it! If you don't get a spark from the used plug then it's your new cap; if you do, then it's the plug. It's not unknown for new plugs to be faulty. Repeat for the other three. Last. Trust Me On This. Buy a length of (from memory 3 or 4mm) brass rod, cut 4 pieces the same length as the resistors in the caps. Use these in place of the resistors. Your ignition system will be so thankful to you for doing that , that it will now give you a spark to light up the sky....or something like that.
