I'v been a busy guy this past year and have posted many photos and videos of things I've done to my Wing a well as other wings. Have a gander at them if you like. I added some custom LED lighting to my 84 interstate. Disclaimer here: Be sure to wear sunglasses when viewing the videos! I do work on the side for others nearby. Talk to you soon, Mr. Fix it http://community.webshots.com/user/eshopper12345 If there is anyone who has some detailed photos of a repair they have done or had done, let me know so I can post them here as well. It certainly looked less damp on the 2005 Classic Wing Ride.

Hi John, do you mind if I bring some of those pics over to http://www.gl1200goldwings.com ? Pics like yours are a great help to the Classic Wing maintenance folks. Vic

Good work Tom. Why not send some of this to the wingnut, he could post them on the Bikers Workshop section here, along with Gamblers GL1200 teardown and rebuild. That way they would be available for good and would get huge exposure as well.

Wingnut is more than welcome copy the high resolution copy of each photo for use in the biker workshop provided that they are not sold as part of a package. With webshots, I allow downloading and saving of the original photo. I can also send the originals if need be as well.

Thanks Tom, I'd be delighted to have them. I'll post them on the Bikers Workshop pages and give you the credit for them.

Hi Mr. Fix-it, Since you have rebuilt or installed a new GL1500 engine, I was wondering why? I have been told these bikes run forever! I recently bought my first Goldwing (99 1500SE with only 34900 Kms on it), and was wondering about potential longevity and what to watch out for as I enjoy the ride? Cheers, John

Hello Mr JHeathe I pickedthis wing up with 279,000klms on the clock and it had a 4th gear issue typical of this year. A fellow winger has an identical wing year and issue. I had the opporuntiy to pick up a B/N engine from the 1992 era and I went for it. It has not been without its' challenges but I suppose that I am a better wrench for the whole ordeal/experience. To pick a wing with what you have for year and mileage, you have gotten a next to brand new wing and that is a good thing. Most well cared for wings are good for over 500,000klms but it is all in the care that they receive even if they don't get used much, it is all inthe PM that goes into keeping the wings or any motorcycle that keeps them running. All the best with yours and I wish you safe riding for many years to come. Tom J.

Hi Mr. Fixit, Thanks for the interesting response. I am a "tinkerer" so to speak as I have not had any formal mechanical training. I do however, like to read the manual, and have a couple of books for the GW and a generic Honda manual. I also have a CX500 1980 version which have been slowly trying to bring back to restored condition - it runs pretty well with its old side by side v-twin engine, and is looking better than when my son left it for me. I like to ride it around town when I need to go somewhere on short notice! I'm very happy with the 1500SE - my wife and I just got back from over 1700kms to the Arrow Lakes etc. It doesn't seem to ever hesitate when one needs to get up and GO! Very nice ride. The only thing that was wrong with it is that something heavy fell against the left side and cracked the front ferring which I have not got the nerve up to replace yet, plus they are about 800 bucks or more to order. This bike is otherwise clean as a whistle. Thanks again for your reply. John
