I could do one on buying an after-the-rapture bike. Shoot, dude... Mine'll be laying in the street. You can just pick it up and HAVE it. Helmet, too!

English Bob (and those who might be wondering) - I'm almost done editing the article you sent. At work I've been busy writing and editing hundreds of pages of technical writing, plus writing proposals, work plans, and reports... I just haven't been in the mood to sit in front of a computer when I got home! Anyway, I'll try to get it out tonight.

I know how you feel!!! When I rode a computer for my living I just wanted a beer and a quiet night with a good book. Look forward to your contribution.

I haven't built up a 1000 yet, just 5 or 6 1100's "collectors" from scratch. I have, however bought and parted out about 15 GL1000's over the past 5 years, and have 4 in the yard now, one being a '75 that I probably will restore, and one a '78 runner. In short: I haven't built them up, but I've certainly seen the sloppiness of poor maintenance and mistreatment: and often see well-hidden If some one wants to mail me or direct me to a copy of the in-the-works-ongoing article on "buying the GL1000", I'd be happy to see if there's anything I can add from a "salvager's" perspective.

I'm not sure exactly what you'd be looking for. I bought one less than a year ago and tore it down and put it back together. I have sort of documented it at http://xadd.org I never read the article that was pulled. I have a very small bit of writing experience but computer technical stuff.

Hi Shoe As it happens I have just emailed the finished article to Wingnut, so if he approves it'll be published in fairly short order. Once it is published please take a look and feel free to make any comments you like, either publicly or by PM. We can always make changes/additions at a later date if necessary.

I'm in Winterpeg all right, -8C as we speak and getting frosty inside too, (I'm supposed to working on tomorrows forthcoming family gathering). I needed to repost anyway because due to a last minute screw-up on my part the article is not quite ready for publication after all. But all is not lost, as they told whatisface in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', "Top Men are Working on it"

Just an update on this folks. The new article is done and can be seen here; http://www.goldwingfacts.com/used1000.htm I think the guys did a great job and I want to say thanks to you all. It can't have been easy doing this when more than one person was involved. I've credited everyone concerned who took part in creating the article.
