hi all.
If you remember,when I reassembled the engine, I reused the old piston rings and hand lapped the valves, so I have put some miles on the bike. I did a compression test yesterday, and had 175lbs in all four cylinders.
I think that the engine is good enough for me to fix the suspension by replacing the springs front and rear. I'll let you all know how that goes.

Hello,
I have an 85 LTD and I have the mysterious clunk noise that only happens after about ½ tire rotation under a load or starting on a slight incline. As there are a lot of posts and all different models, years and milage, even new with no miles on one bike mentioned I am really sure that this is just inherent to the beast. I have been a Porsche/Audi and Foregone auto Tech. for 30 years and seen a lot of things that are just in there and it is something that just cannot be found and/or repaired. I am really sure if the shaft with the ramp on it were replaced with a complete new one the noise would probably still be there. I am not being a negative person but I do not think that the noise can be removed.
I would like too here from ane one that has been able to find and/or fix the problem and I am not the only one that would be elated too here,
I GOT IT!!! IT IS!!!
Good to see everyone here;
Carter
