| Ok so now i ride the Wing to work becaue of the gas price's here . I have to be at work at 4 AM yeah suck's to be me and i have been thinking of fitting some extra light's on the bike . So i found some at Wally World for 15 buck's they look nice all chrome and i'm going to put them down on the lower rad mount's on a bar so that theyare on either side of the front wheel . Now i was thinking that i would have to wire them into the bike's main wiring but these light's just wire into the battery and are then grounded . Does anyone think this will be a problem for the battery or not or should i go ahead and wire them into the main wiring . Also and i know where not ment to say anything about deer alert's but have yo seen the price of them $5.77 for two at WallyWorld as i have a part of my ride to work where the deer like to cross the road only six of them but now they have young one's with them so i thought i'd get some to see if they worked but $5.77 for somthing that may not work . Oh yeah the light's are 55 watt driving light's .

Brit my sugesstion would be wire in to a switch from the fuse panel. This way they will be fused should you get a short and with the switch you control when they come on.. As for deer alerts, we will be later on riding in areas that have huge deer populations and personally I think theyare a good idea. If it stops that one deer from getting out in front of you then it paid for its self....
Ride safe and ride long..........

if you wire to the battery be sure to put a fuse link near the battery. Do remember that on these "olde-wings" the charging system is barely adequate. if you rn all the time with driving lights, especially in stop and go traffic, you will tac the systems ability to keep the battery charged.
55 watts / 12 volts = 4.5 amps

| For your 1100, replace the 55watt bulbs with the 35 watt. From others on here that have done that, they say the lights are just as bright, but drawing less amps as not to overwhelm the charging system. Contact TEACHER, I think he has a site to get the 35 watters at a decent price

Yep, you can get 35 watt bulbs for your 55 watt fixtures. I had to order them seperate though. Even with the 35 watt bulbs I can tell a noticeable increase in visibility with them. I attached mine to the engine guard tubes with a electrical conduit hangers, 1" I believe. I use a relay and ran a wire, with fuse next to the battery. I have a switch mounted up on the left side in the fairing to control the relay. The relay is to lessen the amperage draw on the switch. The relay coil gets it's power from the fuse panel. I notice about a 1/2 volt drop, average, between on and off. I run them all the time so the cagers can see me better.

I used a relay and wire two 35 watt lights, one on each side of my headlight. I could not believe the difference in the amount of light they throw out and the charging system was able to keep things charged.

It will reduce the strain on the bike's wiring. The 35 W bulbs should help keep from putting too much load on the charging system, too.

Here are the 35 watt bulbs that I bought online. I put them in my Wal-Mart driving lights to replace the 55 watt bulbs they came with, and mounted them just below the fairing, on either side of the headlight. They made a tremendous difference in light.
I put the lights on a relay, and ran the coil of the relay from the neutral switch light, through an "on/off" switch. This allowed me to turn the lights on and off at will, and also turned the lights off whenever I switched into neutral. So whenever I am sitting at a stoplight or something, and the bike is idling in neutral, the lights are turned off, and the charging system is OK. As soon as I shift into gear, the lights come on, and everything is fine then as well.

I bought those same 55W at walmart, then the 35W bulbs fron KC.
Still not sure about the best place to mount the lights. Anybody got pictures of them on the GL1100 with Hondaline fairing?

You may want to run the relay switch side to the high beam light. That way they come off and on with the high beam, might be a little easier to work.

I took some flat welding rod, bent it at a 90 degree angle, drilled a hole in each end, and built a mount for the lights. Pictures below. Please excuse the bugs, I've been too busy riding to clean my bike lately.

Okay, now that we are talking driving/running lights, I've been wondering.
I get on the IBA's forum and alot of those guys set up mega lighting on their bikes.
Going to the link here on this thread I clicked on their HID lights. Not that I could even thing about spending big $$$$ right now for these jewels, what would the 2.9 amps draw for these lights do to the 1200 charging system? Some of these lights throw 500,000 candle power!
I'm still on the stator. Will one day change over to the poor boy, but again, not in the near future unless I have to.
