I have gotten an antenna mount off of a GL1200. I made a bracket and have it mounted on my 1100. Came with the wiring, but no antenna. Will a standard type automotive antenna thread on to the stud that is there? or do I need to find the matching type antenna?
Thanks!!

| Best bet would be to take the stud to an auto parts store or Radio Shack where you could compare the different antenna's internal threads.

I am not sure that there is a standard .(which exavid pretty much implied).. I think that you also might be able to try some metric bolts/nuts and then maybe determine the size without having to remove it, then find an antenna with matching threads... might be easier than taking it off again..

| You can also find universal replacement antennas at car parts stores, these are antennas with a set screw that allows them to be attached to a variety of stud sizes. I had on on my truck that had a spring on the bottom that allowed the antenna to flex easily if it hit anything, it was also telescopic so you could easily go under low garage doors with no danger of hitting.

This is the one I ordered and put on my GL1100. Only $40, and in included the wire (which was good, because the existing wire had been routed wrong, and had chafed through to the braid). It is a fold-down antenna, so you can fit into shorter garages, etc. It works fantastic!
Edit: incidentally, this is a CB antenna, which works if you have the CB and radio on the bike (with the splitter box). I don't know how it would work for tuner alone (with no CB), although I can't imagine that it *wouldn't* work.
