Has anyone tried to repair any of the ABS parts on a 1500?  I was thinking of trying to back up my cracked areas with fiberglass, and fill the cracks with ABS cement, sanding smooth and repainting.  Wondering if anyone had tried it and with what results?

Also, I removed my shelter covers to super-glue my shelter cracks (hopefully to stop them from spreading) and now my cruise wont engage:baffled:  anyone got any ideas on that one?

Still trying to convince the wife that I need new shelters rather than trying to repair my brake fluid damaged ones, but maybe if I offer to clean the house real, real, good I can change her mind!  yeah right, me clean??? :cheeky1: (Ladies, dont get mad, just jokin)

Also, just got a trailer for the bike tonight, it has marker lights, taillights, turn signals on it, should I put the trailer isolation kit on the bike or is the electrical system strong enough to handle it?

thanks again fellas!!!

Jeff,

I had the same problem with my side panels & went to ebay, got 2 had them painted - much faster & easier.  Now when it's raining or 3 feet of snow I can play with the repairs to the old ones. There are switches for the cruise on the clutch lever, front brake lever, foot brake & side stand, one of them might be dirty, it's not unusual. Good luck :waving:

As far as trailer lights go I would try to use LED lights ,they draw very little are very bright and last a long time.

Yes with abs sheet, fiberglass fabric and black ABS cement.  Permanent.

Also, I removed my shelter covers to super-glue my shelter cracks (hopefully to stop them from spreading) and now my cruise wont engage:baffled:  anyone got any ideas on that one?

Probably hosed one of the wires on the switches is my first guess.

It won't be too hard to convince her when the affected areas turn into potato chips and start breaking off in chunks.

Use an isolation kit.  You get brighter trailer lights, get less dimming from the additional load and you don't risk dropping out needed bike systems when a wiring problem occurs on the trailer.  Don't cheap-out at the last step.
