I just went through the wiring on my 1100 , and I must have removed 40 feet of dead wire. Some wire was hot some was just leading to nothing.
Along the way I found a set that lead to 3 post which were glue to the inside of the fairing and 1 on top of the tank., The looked almost like mini speakers (like the ones in the halmark cards)
I also found a 10 foot wireone end attacthed to a solid ground the other was loose but in between was a mecury switch. All these wires were taped in a ball under the false tank and lead to a switch that Boggled me since I bought the bike.
It looks like a aftermarket setup for cb/radio/2 way. I regretfully did not take any pictures.
Any I dea what that mecury switch or those sensor pads were for???

Sounds to me it may be a type of movement or anti theft alarm.
By changing the angle of the bike, Like standing the bike upright from the side stand would activate the mercury switch making the horn blow and lights flash or something.
I bought a wing years ago that had a switch rigged that way.
Just a thought.

Definitely sounds like an alarm. Those little hallmark speakers are actually piezo transducers - and they work in reverse, as well. As speakers, if you apply an electrical signal, they vibrate and make noise. Conversely, if you vibrate them, they produce a tiny electrical signal.
So if you mount them to the bike, any kind of bump or vibration will be detected by the alarm. The mercury switch will, as mentioned, detect if the bike is tipped or moved.
