This might sound weird, but I took the left side cover off my 99 SE to check the alternator, and toward the front of the bike, on top of the engine, there was a pile of chewed paper, with some fibrous material in it. Obviously, a mouse had gotten in here, but what did he chew? Is there anything in there made of paper? It appears to be a filter, but not air. I'm wondering if he brought it with him!

Thanks,

Mike

Here you go; the chewed material was in the space behind the black actuator.

I would bet he brought it with him!Just be glad he didn't aquire a taste for wire insulation! My stepson had a Ninja with 4,100 miles on it and a mouse had trashed his wiring harness and rubber carb boots.Wasn't cost effective to have it repaired so he sold it as is. Mice suck! jimsjinx

Just had a coil wire wrecked by the little critters. Know what it's like to get to the coil wires in the 2000 1500's?

It ain't easy.

Check out what I found this  a few weeks ago when I opened her up (damn near a year later)!

Shocklingly, it's running much better now that I cleaned everything out.

Go ahead...I fully expect to be crapped on for my maintenance skills...

Mike
