What do you guys use to clean your windshields so you don't

end up scratching it?

I've been using Plexus but just ran out.

Just thought I would see if there is something  else to use?

Thanks Gene

I have used Lemon Pledge for years and no problems. Also works good for touch up on the bike. I carry a can of pledge wrapped in a cotton towel in the trunk.
My son likes the Orange Pledge. Just remember to hide it from your wife.:cooldevil:

I use a product called slipstreamer. It works great and desolves bugs quick. I use a micro fiber towel to apply amd a cleam dry micro fiber towel to buff off. Leaves a clean finish and when it rains the water slips right off. Most bike dealers carry it. Great for polycarbon surfaced windshields.

I use 210 Spray Polish and cleaner. It dissolves the bugs and after 2 years the windshield still looks like new. When using it ,it reminds you of the old Pledge from the 70s and 80s before they changed the formula. It can also be used to clean the bike.

I have a Tulsa tall windshield. The instructions at their site recommends not using Rain-x or Pledge as they contain alcohol or amonia. According to them, both will eventually soften the poly coating.

Sprayway glass cleaner. It is also used on the line at airports, as it's 100% safe on Plexi. It's the only spray that good linemen will use when cleaning windshields on airplanes.

:waving:I use "Mer-maids" Plexiglass/Plastic Cleaner & Polish which cleans plexiglas, lexan, acrylic & vinyl windows.  I buy it at Fisheries Supply, a marine supply store in Seattle.

I have a very blochy windshield on my 99 goldwing. I think some of the polymer coating is peeling off. What can I do:waving:

I used to use water and Pledge, but the secret is to only ever use a microfiber cloth, and to only wipe it in verticle strokes on the outside, and only in horizontal strokes on the inside. If you use a circular motion even a microfiber towel will leave tiny spiral scratches eventually and a spiral scratch is going to pick up every glint of light possible.

Now I use 'Rejex' over the entire bike, including the windshield, every six months, after that it is just a moist (water) cloth to dissolve the bugs, and the dust/bugs just slide right off. It also gives the bike a very glossy wet finish and slick to the touch. (Don't ever use it on your seat or you will not be able to stay on it again)

Hi Perrydog, welcome to the forum.

You should start a new thread on your question. You'll get more responses directed towards your particular problem.

I use PlastX clear plastic cleaner and ploish by Meguiars. It says it removes fine scraches, cloudiness & stubborn oxidation. Works great!

PlastX is awesome, but only with a buffer is my experience.  Between rides I use windex and microfiber, works great...
