I thought I would pass along a bit of information for our readers. This may be helpful next time you change out your windshield (GL1800).  I just installed my Tulsa Freedom Slide +4" today.  I choose to follow the instructions from the F4 windshield co, because they did not instruct you to remove the mirrors.  They have photo illustrations for each step, provide the size socket / allen wrench you will need, and no problems were encountered.  Below is the link for the F4 windshield removal/installation if interested.  Since I could do this, it is likely almost anyone can !  45 minutes for me, and I am slow.  I found the instructions on the internet:

http://www.f4customs.com/media/Install_directions_pg4.pdf

Best wishes,
Dave

Thanks for the tip Dave, I plugged the site on to my fix-it section of the desk top.

I know this is an old thread but would like to thank the original poster dave95sps. Replaced the 1800's windshield this morning and thanks to his thread it took less than 20 minutes. Prior to starting I went to the F4 Custom site and watched the video and it was a very easy process. Thanks again to dave95sps for his old post.

The Honda manual tells you to leave the mirrors on the bike !
No need to remove them.
