I have a 1983 Aspencade, I verified the model with the VIN number.  The funny part is the colors.  The bike is a two tone with the main color being a dark brown with metallic flake and the secondary color is a light brown almost a tan or butterscoth with no metallic.  The paint looks original, many knowledgeable people have looked at it and feel it is a factory paint job. It has the Aspencade emblem on the saddlebag's and the gas tank emblem.  The bike has the factory two tone decal striping between the colors and the helmet sticker on the tank in the correct color.  All the reference's I have seen from Honda don't list a brown color on the aspencade in 1983.  Any ideas ?

Got any pictures of it? I know the '82 Aspencade had a brown 2 tone paint option. Obviously for the '83 you'll find mostly Wineberry/Maroon and Silver/Gray color combination's. Most places don't list Wineberry as a Interstate color, but they exist.

Does the VIN plate say it's an 1983A model? What is the date of manufacture from the same plate?

Thanks for the picture.  If it has a mid 1982 build date, could be a color they had left over from 1982.  Certainly looks legit though!  And yes, I think Root Beer is the good term for the color, but it was called Candy Regal Brown on the '83 Standard and Interstate.

But I'd say you have a fairly rare color '83 Aspencade!  (More than likely someone had a trashed paint job on an '83 Aspencade and found some good bodywork from an '82 and transplanted all the '82 body panels to your '83 bike...)  There is very little if any differences in the body panels between '82 and '83.

Here's an '82 Aspencade for comparison

The paint codes for all years are on page 2 of the reference forum. Yours is listed as Sorrel Brown YR116MU.
