and from the front. just make sure it's where you want it measure  and then remeasure make sure nothings moving on you. and this is the easy side.

i did use the center stand area on the last one and i may go back to that. but it seems like this would be quicker and i have already noticed with this build i'll be higher off the ground and much more axle housing clearance to the rear frame section. i think it will work better or at the least as well. i hope.

Great Idea to install bolts allowing for removal of the axle in the future if needed. It looks like you are making some good progress on this one.

:) Looking GOOD & coming along fast.
Great pictures.
Don't warp the axle housing when you weld to it, will knock out axle alignment & screw up the bearing.
Did you think of welding on some spring perches & using U-bolts to the arms? :?
Think that would be stronger then the one bolt.
Keep it coming.

been welding a long time and as of yet haven't warpped an axle housing. i can't think of any way you could brake those bolts with the geometry of this trike. my other trike had the bolts also front and back they haven't failed yet and don't think they will. these bolts are used the same way in the car i got the rear end from. that's how it was bolted to the car and only 2 bolts to worry about instead of 8. simple to me is better as long as it works. it hurts my head if i have to think too much. :headbanger:

might try perches on the 1500 see how they work i'm sure that would be stronger, but i kinda got a roll going here. i like the way this is coming togeather quicker and easier than the other. keep the thoughts coming most always  2 heads are better than one.:action:

got the slide thanks a bunch will still have to get 2 more unless you think the 4 will hold it?:bowing:

rolling trike today 12hrs not bad since this is the first one i did like this. i do see one slight problem with using the stock swingarm. you'll have to pull the rearend back some to get the drive shaft out but i don't think that will have to happen very often and you'll only have to pull 2 bolts to do it. will post pics tonight.

well not a whole six days of work. a few hrs a day.

i tacked everything togeather and pulled the whole thing from the frame so i could weld and brace everything up.

used some flat 1/8 in plate for this.

i had to ad about 3" of the the shaft tube back to get some clearance on the passengers ft rest and the brake master cylinder.

bottom of the swing arm all braced up and ground. nothing fancy here.

i braced it pretty heavy in the area i added back with the 1/8 flat, top and bottom .

this is the point as you can see where the other swingarm attaches.

did almost the exact samething to this side as the first. only didn't take as long.

i'm thinking this will be the way i go on the 1500 quick very stable.

didn't have to use any kind of sway bar on here i can't make it move. although i may rig up something before i'm done.

ok it's back in the frame and shock mounts done.

i used a piece of the same square tubing i used on the swingarm for the upper bracket 16" to be exact.

notched the rear shield for clearance.

welded some shouldered shock bolts i had in the bolt drawer to the end of the tubing.

welded on a couple of brackets and bolted it all to the seat frame bolt and will weld it to the frame when finished.

wheel base is pretty close to the last one. chunk is right under the tour pac. worked out good last time. see avitar. you can see it in there. this is the same length. i made my own swing arm last time. it may have been a little longer than this one.

bottom shock bracket i used a piece of 3/4" pipe. 2" length.

cut the pipe on the right angle then took 2 shouldered shock bolts and welded them to the ends of each pipe. then welded them to the swingarm.

Just a thought skoto if you havent thought of this already. you might have to limit your rear suspension travel so the front u joint doesnt hit the case or slip off the engine output shaft. You  put asplined coupler in your new driveshaft if neccessary  JB

and from the rear rolling.

will have to go to the dreaded pull a part tomorrow to see if i can find a driveshaft to go with this thing and run it around the block a few times maybe.

still have about 30 mins to and 1hr of finish up welding to do also. this was the easy part, the body is what takes the longest.

the travel should be the same as the bike was before since i used the original shocks and swingarm? i actually dropped the rear of the frame down about 3" from where it originally set.

Looking Good!!! It doesn't seem to be taking you very long. Do you make your own bodywork from scratch or do you modify car fenders or body parts?

made the last one from scratch. probably will this time also. the one in my avitar was all flat sheet metal to start with. i was thinking of something different on this one maybe sporty and not use the tour pac not sure yet.

i would like to find some 30s or 40s fenders to play with would really save me some fab time.

its lookin good Skoto. this is just my thoughts as I see it on the suspension travel  and driveline  . On a normal goldwing  doesnt some of the suspension travel goes through the big splined end of the driveshaft  ??. On the 1000 and 1100 there is a sliding  collar that rides on the mating gear on the final drive and the front u joint is held with a c clip. On the 1200 and 1500  there is the fixed   coarse splined end of the driveshaft that runs in   the inner tube machined on the final drive though the  driveshat does float  some on  the front u joint.  I guess my thoughts  are that the fine splines of the front u joint  might be  taking 100 per cent of the suspension travel  sliding in and out with the rear wheel   movement .  I thought you might be able to limit the in and out movement of the driveshaft on the  front u joint assembly by  using a course splined coupler like you see on a lot of older 4 wheel driveshafts  and pto shafts that move  in and out with suspension travel .  I could be easily overthinking this though .  I really  enjoy looking at what you are doing. JB

i'm not really sure what your saying. this one has the front splines that slides in and out on the output shaft. on the last trike i pushed it about halfway on so i had even movement maybe 1 1/2" in and same amount out. i used the same driveshaft end that came on the wing and that worked good on the last one. so are you talking about adding another spline section to the drive shaft if that's so i don't think i'll have enough room. i will see when i get it all made up today. this is pretty much how the bike came out just backed up the wheel center some but i also backed up the shocks. should be the same travel. i don't know now.:stumped:
