Hello, according to this image:![]() thats the layout of the female connector of the 1500 im working with. while reading the DIY project it got me very confused: http://www.goldwingfacts.com/DIYintercom.htm Din Plug Pin Connected to I Dont know what to do? i already bought the DIN 5 pin connectors but dont wana make any mistakes. i while using the first image, i wired a pc headset to a din connector and got the radio and CB playing through the speakers but on the mic is not working, coudln't hear my voice on other CBs but would listen the clicks. now checking the site again i found this diy guide. can you tell me what to do? i thought a regular mic would work just like the speakers. is there any way to go away without using a battery with a Dynamic Mic? while doing bench tests connected the mic directly to the female connector on the bike and would hear a BEEEEP sound on the bike and the other listening CB when i pushed the talk button. No battery required for dynamic mic, and no resistor or capacitor. In fact, adding one wouldn't help a bit. I'm not sure of your exact question, but a dynamic element will also act as a tiny speaker, if accidently hooked to a l or r channel..

ok the real question is. whats the real layout of the goldwing pins as i connected the mic to 1 and 2 and didn't worked. it would transmit a beeeeeep, when you use the CB, are you supposed to hear your own voice through the speakers/headset?

checked the mic and the mic is fine, when connected to pins 1 and 2: when talk button is pushed even with the CB volume at 0% it will play a loud BEEP on through the speakers and others will hear them on their CBS. when connected to 1 and 4, noise is heard through the speakers, when talk button is pressed nothing happens.

I believe the picture you have is correct but the instructions on the link have pin 2 and 4 swapped. Make sure your Mic - and Audio - are not connected. Seems like I ran into some headsets that wired the two together. It causes a "feedback" loop and does what you are getting.

The picture is correct for the pinout. The copy and pasted bit is wrong on pin 3. I had the same trouble and couldn't find a mic that would work without adding a battery and some other bits and pieces. In the end I went out and bought some of the "relatively" cheap J&M headsets. They were right at $70 each. Last edited on Mon Mar 15th, 2010 02:42 pm by k1w1t1m ____________________ Tim CMA Faith Riders Chapter 732 Don't steal, the government hates competition. |

William, Mic high (+) to 1 and mic return (-) to 2 should work. First, the speakers are not used in any condition except receive CB audio and entertainment audio. Secondly, Mic audio for the inercom and CB are never routed to the external speakers. Sidetone (you can hear yourself talk) is sent to the headset speakers for both CB and inercom mic. If you are getting feedback through the speakers without other connections made at the Din connector you are not connected properly. For squeal, I have often found grounding problems or a defective mic.

ill try another mic then. as when i was using jumper wires for the mic on 1 and 2 that beep that sounds like feedback but the weird thing is that the sound plays even with the CB volume at 0% (fm radio off) thanks for the info.

A 5 pin din plug is numbered on back side 1,4,2,3,5 in that order. The image is wrong on the din plug and right on the female bike side connector. I cannot understand why this mistake is made if people would just look at back side of the din plug.

The problem is that you're using a standard PC headset. PC's use electret microphones, not dynamic. The PC provides a small bias voltage to the microphone, and requires a small preamp and DC blocking capacitor. The Goldwings, on the other hand, use dynamic microphones, which are basically speakers in reverse - just a coil. It's pretty hard to find a modern headset that uses a dynamic microphone anymore.

My guess is most people are either not wiring to the back side of the din plug (i.e. they already have the plug with the wires connected and are trying to patch into the wires) or like me they are too blind to see those little numbers

if you know anyone with access to slightly used army gear the mic's that they use for tank and any other equipment that has a headset ( control stations for certain systems ) use the right kind of mic. won't say how i know this lol but they can be fun to setup as a head set with as they are not that small. drop me a PM if you can't find any i might still have one someone in my packed away stuff. surplus store is an other place to check for the head sets with the mic's Last edited on Mon Mar 15th, 2010 11:37 pm by doozer ____________________ http://www.cascadingshadowsphotographydesigns.com |
