| To introduce myself, I am retired and of a certain age. I had a 1200a for 11 years till I dropped it in Switzerland, being luck to get away with just a bunch of broken ribs. Thats me through with Wings, I thought at the time. However this year, on the few sunny and warm days, I find I miss having a ride out, so am now looking for a Plain Jane.

Hi, A belated thanks to all who welcomed me aboard when I joined the group last month.
I now have a Wing, a 1976 yellowbird in excellent nick, considering she has been ignored in a garage for over 10 years. Some of the time she was in a sealed bag which helped. Imported from Oregon in 1995 and only used for a couple of years, seems a USA import is the best way to get a good older Wing here in the UK, I know Oregon is a bit on the damp side, but at least you have summers...........
I was actually looking for a late 1100 plane jane that was ready to ride, I think the last two years have better looking paint jobs, but found few about. Even found two reasonable looking bikes with the center stand mounts rusted out! Then a friend found this one in a local paper and only 10 miles away so I went along to see and got it at a fair price. It has a new original exhaust, a seat that never looks sat on and no silly extra bits, excepting strange looking Hondaline engine bars, but they will stay on.
The advert said 'needs recommissioning' and I hope that's about it, cambelts, tyres, brake hoses, carb clean out. Worst thing is the tank, new only a year before it was laid up, it was left almost empty and is now rusted looking inside - it will have to come out and get cleaned out, a few pounds of flint chippings shaken about should do the trick, and then sealed, just hope it has not gone through.
So that will keep me busy for a month or three, ready for spring though! All I have done so far is wash her down.
Like to hear from anyone else who has resurected a 1000 Wing,
Cheers - JohnR

John, if you have access to a distributer for this product, it is well worth the expense. No need to remove the tank from the bike to clean the rust out. I have done it and it works great. Search post by MDKramer on this subject.

Welcome to the forum. If your screen-name is a hint at your age, you're just out of the cradle compared to some here. And I won't mention Paul's screen name...
