I just realized that Nassir 4 is at Puget Sound. That is 2,600 miles from Knoxville. Riding 8 hours a day it will take 5 days to get there. I will have to take a 3 week vacation to make that trip! I would have to camp along side the road every night, eat nothing but beeny weenies and use my Teneessee Credit Card (syphon hose) for gas to afford to go! Not to mention a brake job, oil change and a set of tires.  Bernie

Don't get riled up, Wayne! Bernie and I are pretty good friends...... Here he is on the right with his clean Kawwie......but you know why it's clean, don't you? He never takes it outside! Dubswing, if you don't show up at Nassir 4, I'm personally gonna go back to Tennessee and smear my big oily fingerprints all over that new Vulgar Valk of yours! Heh heh, Looks like I stirred the ole man up a bit! Maybe I could get Bagmaster and a few others to do a pilgrimage to the Northwest. You Washington boys spend too much time with your nose stuck in the yellow snow! You need to spend some time in the real mountains that don't erupt on your _ss and cover you with volcanic slime! With real trees and critters to look at. Fresh air and more than one woman per 1,000 square miles! No wonder you don't let the Goudger go anywhere by herself. And every self respecting Southern boy has a Tennesse Credit card for emergencies! Looks like the route would take us thru Ellensburg. We could hole up there with CJ and ride across the pass with him and Red. That way we can make sure CJ doesn't get lost! (we aint getting any younger ,or richer ) got to make a few stops in several places. so i (we) will be probably be running by ourselves. just doing what we choose and both enjouy. yep CJ--keep a level spot for the tent clear. thanks rudy . i love that picture. wda-83wing. My little two person tent will look small beside your mansion of a tent! I should be able to get all my gear on the Valk. CJ needs to see a couple "Real" bikes and I can't think of any better than an '83 Wing and a '98 Valk! Bagmaster, you get well too and join the party at CJ's! We will show him how Southern boys party! And show him how to ride those hairless bumps he calls mountains!  Bernie

Dear Little Lois might have to sell the house, the Corvette, the other bike left over, and come on out to the Pacific Northwest on a Greyhound! Bernie and Wayne: I'll grant you the party point; I served in Texas and spent some time in Georgia (actually, anywhere in the South would be my choice if I couldn't live here, especially Texas) and Southern boys do party.... I oughta know, I carried enough of them into the barracks after lights out! Ahahahahahaha!

Enough is enough. I truly look forward to riding the Northwest, hopefully, next year! Those mountains are so beautiful! We, as a group of bike riders are so blessed to be able to see the magesty of God's artistry! Whether it be the rugged Northwest, the great plains or the Eastern roads from Maine to Florida! I just did a few calculations anf found it will take 65.5 gallons of fuel to get from Knox to Nassir 4 or approx $189.00 for fuel each way. When CJ gets some real miles on his ST1300, which is a real bike too, he will understand the comfort of these boxer engine dragons we slay highways on! The Grand Plan has evolved to this: The ST is paid off next year, along with a home improvement loan we used to double the square footage of our little house. We then intend to ship the ST to Europe and make our giant Europe swing..... from Spain and Portugal probably all the way north to Nordcap in Norway....we'll then either sell the bike over there, or even store it a winter, and come back and try and hit Eastern Europe the next season, then sell it....bucket lists, you see....we toured Europe once for eight weeks in an old van, but only got 10 days in the Alps on a rented super-scoot, not enough.... In the meantime, when we're home, I plan to buy an old Garage Ornament: like a well-used but well-cared for 1500, Valkyrie, or something similar, to ride on the home turf. Kinda be a commuting globe-trotter, until I get too old to do it....then I'll just stay home, and chase Red all over the house! But come to the Pacific Northwest! You'll never be sorry! CJ, You know there is always a place in our garage for your scoot. We have had fun on this one for sure! With the termoil in Europe I hope you are very careful and find forum members to ride with. You wouldn't be dissappointed if you did get a Valkyrie. I am still being amazed by the one I just got! But like all Hondas, it is a terrific bike! Bernie

So, am I right in saying that my taking a roundtrip flight out for the event would be frowned upon or even ridiculed?? Go ahead...I asked for it...hit me with your best shot!!!

Well CJ, I honestly expected a more humorous response so you kinda caught me off guard. But, if that was a serious question then my honest answer is "I haven't given it much thought yet". I know I want to come out and I know that the ONLY way I can get there with the limited amount of time off I have is to fly. After all, it IS a long way from middle Tennessee and I still have to punch the time clock unfotunately! I suppose renting a ride might be an option but I imagine it would certainly stretch the budget. I would even be content to be the camp "chief cook and bottle washer" if need be. Time will tell. I can only dream...it would indeed take about 3 weeks off to do it right and smell the roses in both directions. I've never been west of the Mississippi (other than directly to Las Vegas and LA once). I couldn't possible do it as a mad dash iron butt there and back. Well, I've got a lot to think about between now and then...just found round trip tickets for $358...not bad really.
