Is it still possible to do the hike to base camp on Rainier? Did that back in '88 and the view was incredible. Even at base camp you're higher than all the surrounding mountains. Am hoping to camp in the park for a few days prior to NASSIR4.

Independence Pass in Colorado is one of my favorite rides. If on State Route 50 by Canyon City, Colorado, Skyline Drive out of Canyon City, short but really worth the 30 minutes to see it, then the Royal Gorge State Park. If in Colorado Springs, the Garden of the Gods State Park and USAF Academy. Another Vote for Crater Lake. Hwy 1 up the Coast, any portion of it.
