I just rode in across 50 yesterday, finishing an 18-day, 3,250 mile trip.

I love Highway 50 (compared to the alternative, I-80.  It's called the Loneliest Highway, but it's a cool ride in it's own right.

I usually stay in Delta, Utah or Ely.  The Nevada hotel in Ely is a landmark, the food is fair, the rooms unique.

Get gas in Ely and Austin and that will get you across to Reno no problem.  (Never pass up gas at Austin whether east or westbound.)

No shoulders at all, pretty much no place to pull over for miles at a time.  Rest stops are a picnic table and the turns into them are pretty much right turns.  If you need to take a break, don't miss one.

Should you need tires in the area I just bought a set of Metzelers from Reno Power Sports near the airport.  They were almost as cheap as I get them on the Internet and the total labor on/off the bike was only 85.

They have a souvenir thing going.  If you stop in certain towns at certain businesses and fill out the log the send you a loneliest highway shirt.  (The staff at the Nevada Hotel or probably the Jailhouse Motel (both in Ely) can get you going on that if interested.  (I've never done it, but if you are into it, there you go.)

If you like pins, most of the business's sell loneliest highway pins, I bought one at the Chevron in Austin.

It can be a hot, dry, windy, long ride at it's worst so be prepared.

Ride safe.
