Partially right, that's me with the coolest color Wing behind me. :action:

BTW, that's Wingnut Junior, Wingnut and Motorcycle Pete to my left. :)

Blue skys yes, but the elevation there was around 9K-10K feet, and we were climbing to around 12K, so the temperatures were cool. :)  Those big cliffs next to the road were making Wingnut & Wingnut Junior a bit uneasy though.

MC Pete is a rider big time, and most definitely a tough one. :action:  He's also a major gentleman.  The bike Wingnut and Junior were riding was a rental that MC Pete rented and then let them ride it on the Million Dollar highway with me.  At the end he bought us all lunch. :bowing:  He's a great guy for sure!

Other than him wishing he was driving on the left when the cliffs were on the right, he did great. :dude:  You never would have known he was from a country the drives on the wrong side of the road. :cheeky1:

While en route to Montrose, I meet up with a fella named Carl, who rode a ST 1300.

We hooked up for a few days and he introduced me to some of what Northern California has to offer the touring motorcyclist

Here's a shot of myself at the start of a wicked Gem of a twisty road in N CA,  ......

There is a section of road 10 miles long that puts The Dragon to shame  :(   and I ground off my Gremlin Bell along with other bits of undercarriage/highway peg mounts on one of the corners there. This road was very 'entertaining' as it had it all, including high speed sweepers. vistas and blind dips that I managed to get the Ole Wing airborne and do a 'cross-up'  :cooldevil:

This road takes you out to the Coast and through a few groves of Giant Coastal Redwoods, making for some 'enchanted riding'.

We camped amongst some beautiful specimens of those Giant Coastal Redwoods. What a camping spot!  :coollep:

these trees are ...  Big

did I mention these trees are  ...  B I G

I loved this area of California. :cooler:

That sure is purdy  :clapper: Is it not dangerous to camp out in a place like that :baffled:

Not at all, my dear  Redwing, as it is in an 'organized' campground, administered by the County.

If you are thinking about "wild life", there might be the odd Black Bear around and some little critters(Squirrel, mice, raccoon, skunk) ... maybe the odd Mountain Lion(unlikely, but possible), but on the whole, quite safe indeed, provided you keep a clean camp.(meaning  .... don't leave food around on the table/tent, or other smelly attractants!)

If you mean danger from falling limbs/timber, these trees are pretty durned sturdy, unlike large Cottonwoods, which are also named 'Widow Makers', because of their tendancy to 'shed' large branches and blow over/split.

Unlike a lot of Europe, 'wild camping/camping at large' is still widely available/the norm, over on this side of the pond. Hope that answers your question.

Dusty

more of a chance to be bothered by black bears than the 2 legged variety of Vermin.

That two legged type usually find it hard to make their way out of the getto.
Not enough action for them in a forest

You bet! I kept trying to bid on stuff, at the auction, but mostly he had me laughing too hard! Well, I bought my "sheep date" (to go with my snoozing Leprechaun clock...that's for that, too, wexy!), so I'm all set for home decorations. :cheeky1:

Thank you to all for sharing their video footage and stills pictures, I am enjoying them greatly, but with a twinge of sadness that we could not be there this year.

Another tunnel.

This on is at Red Canyon, UT., on SR12, not far from Bryce Canyon National Park
