AVA AUTO TECH wrote: Can anybody tell me politely why the weekends have gone on the wayside for the meet. Thursday to Sunday or Friday to Monday or Saturday to Tuesday.:?.

Last year when we were discussing NASSIR2 there was a vote taken on this because of a discussion we were having about it.  Many of us expressed that it would be easier for those that had to travel quite a bit to have the weekend before and weekend after as travel days, so it wouldn't chew up as many vacation days.  Many people liked that idea and that's the way the vote went.  For me this year I travelled on Sat-Mon, we had the meet-n-greet on Tue-Thur, then I travelled back Fri-Sun.  Only had to burn one week of vacation that way.  It won't matter to me for NASSIR3 though.  If I'm able to go I'm looking at five 546 mile days each way, so it will burn at least 2 weeks vacation no matter when the event is, but for the East Coast people, most could easily make it there in 3 days, so the arrangement is still good for most.

King Wexy apparently liked how that vote went so it stuck for NASSIR3 when he dictated when and where that would take place.  :cheeky1::cheeky1:

I wondered  how long it would be before you saw my post. :cheeky1::cheeky1:  You know I had to give you some grief.  I didn't give you nearly enough in Montrose. :D

For those that are taking me serious, I really have been joking.  I'm glad someone is taking ownership of this thing.  It's likely to keep going if it's managed and likely to die if there is no ownership IMHO.  I don't really care whether there is a vote or not.  If it moves around every year, then most people will have a chance to attend one, and if you have the chance, do it.  It's a blast!!.  I will go every year that my budget and vacation time will allow.  Steve has already said that he will try to go next year as well, so if you missed the chance to meet him this year, then get there next year.  He, Dylan, Wexy & Fabienne are great folks and a lot of fun to be around, and so are all of the other members I've been able to meet face to face because of these events.  So if any of you are thinking about it, just do it.  You won't regret it!:action:

John

The Finger Lake area is only a four to five hour trip for me so I'm in, barring disaster.

Nassir 2 was out of my range so I declined from votes or polls voluntarily but I will be putting in my $0.02 for Nassir 3.

You guys have gone way to far out of touch for me. The thought of going anywhere near the east coast on a bike frightens me. May be nice in that area, but not for me. If the event ever get back to the central part of the USA I might come. Tried to do Montrose, was a little far but still tried it did not work out. New York- No Way.

My internet bytes the dust yesterday, and 5 pages on here already????????

Wexy, I found your AXE, here it comes

did ya catch it???  :action:

a comment on June.   Other states, like Arizona close school the first few days in June.

so we need to be in the 3rd week? to give time for travel?
Also, School starts here in the 4th week of august.  So, no later than 2nd week of August.

My 1 cents worth.     :coollep:

I like the idea of mid-late August, even early September for dates in upstate NY. Too much other stuff going on in the summer.

Having NASSIR on Tues - Thurs gives time to ride in from Friday night to Tues. Then time to get home Thursday to Sunday.

All done inside one week where many people these days only have one weeks vacation. (5 days off plus 2 weekends = 9 days) [5+4]

It worked real well for us, we still have another week vacation time (5+4) saved for this year.

Mid-week dates make sense for those that have some miles to cover, which will be the majority - due to the vacation days thing.

Being you mentioned it.  Alaska might be a nice place to have NASSIR 3 At least you don't have to deal with traffic or a lot of people. Plus I figure that would be a great ride.  Would be nice to have 2 weeks vacation for that trip. Were do I vote?

The Finger Lakes is not NY City/Chicago/St Louis!! It is not a 'high traffic'area and neither is getting there.

When I was there last September, there was hardly 2 cars visible on the road at the same time. I don't understand your statements of all the 'traffic' :?

It's a fairly large area, roughly 60 miles south of Rochester, W/SW ofAlbany, SE of Buffalo and north of Corning New York.

Go to Google maps and look up Ithaca/Watkins Glen/Geneva. You'll see  narrow, longish lakes that run roughly in a North/South direction. That, my friend, is the Finger Lakes Region. Yes, I've been  there many times

Look HERE

Here's a shot I posted last year, of the actual "Glen"at Watkins Glen. This is inside of Watkins Glen State Park and free to campers registered there. Otherwise, I think there is a $5 admission fee(?) and is accessible from main street, across from the old Court House

As you can see, the scenery is rather awesome.

Dusty
