This event is no where near that stinking city.

I am so tired of everyone immediately thinking of that crime ridden cesspool every time they hear the term New York. This is a big state, the area that city covers is less than 1% of the state. The rest of this state has hills and farms and forests and lakes and rivers and some of the most beautiful rides this country has to offer.

Crime rates, jees, Hamburg is just under 400 miles from New York City which I think your referring to but if you like to bandy around crime rate numbers maybe compare Gadsden Alabama with Hamburg New York
Gadsden with a population of 46,925 has a crime rate of 11243.47 compared with Hamburg New York, population 40,740 has a crime rate of 4695.72.
You don't really need to worry about packing your Magnum 45 it really is a peaceful area...

Axe me if you need Wexy :)

Yeah...I think we're all guilty. There probably HAS been an on-going campaign from New York STATE trying to convince people that it's not New York CITY...that's been going on, all my life, to no avail, apparently. :D

I've never seen down-state NY (wherever THAT is), and never could quite figure out why a massive land area with millions of people (lovingly spread out) has to refer to itself as "upstate".

There's Lon-guyland, which includes part of what we think of as New York City, which includes islands that most of us think of as New York City...Manhattan, Bronx etc.

I personally love it, when women "axe me out for brekfix" on Lon-Guyland, but I agree, up-state is better for a rally! :cheeky1:

Well, Red and I have already ridden "Upstate New York," on our first trip to Nova Scotia years ago, and the riding and camping were just fine.....  we saw Niagara, and then rode the shore of Lake Ontario, for awhile, then up the Seaward Trail..... traffic got a bit frantic just around Rochester, but we dealt with it...... and no one shot at us, or ran us over, or even flipped us the bird (and who would, being the wonderful couple that we are!)......:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

New York, New Amsterdam, New Atlanta, New Podunk.... whatever..... we're going......  this is North America, and the travellin' is easy....... it's not like we have to ride the "Road Of Bones" or anything.....

Ok, I am going to refrain from voting on a particular date. Any date will work for me.

Unfortunately I can only commit 100% that I will be there when we get closer to the date. If work demands that I am somewhere else, then I have little choice.

I have missed out on Nassir 1 and Nassir 2.

I really hope that I will be able to make Nassir 3. Distance is no excuse!! This is practically in my back yard!!

I am a definite 'maybe'. When I commit, I will be there!!

Trixie,
Where did you get the numbers like that? No where close, (except in thousands of a tenth 4 Gadsden). No argument.
Sincerely,

If I recall correctly, we picked date first, then location second, for nassir2.

That was probably a little backwards. I think location first is good.

As I said on the other thread, there was discussion at nassir2 of location for nassir3. So, it's not out of the blue.

It seems to me that's not a bad way to do it....let those who participate in one rally recommend the next location.

There is logic in this choice. SE last year, SW this year, NE next year, NW the following year.

Of course a little out of date but crime doesnt usually improve over time:

I just returned from Upstate NY and the Adirondacks.  This is a beautiful area and is a great site for the next M&G.

The Buffalo/Niagara area is also very pretty and lots of things to do and very scenic rides.

It's also handy that my son lives in Syracuse. ;)

Yeah - watch out if I ever make it to one of these rallies - I spent the first 20 years of life split between Buffalo (Kenmore and Tonawanda sections) and Syracuse (North Syracuse and Liverpool sections) - I am such a criminal - LOL

Lots to do all over "Upstate" and some great riding too. Not voting because I am not sure I can make it cross country this year - although it would be fun to not only meet a whole bunch more of you - but also make it a "homecoming" for me - a trip down nostalgia lane - LOL

I need more info on whatever that thing UBARW mentioned though - he's such an acronym dropper :D

Heck. Any date is good for me. I am just gona go with the flow. (The actual Population Of Gadsden is right under 39,000 people, Just for the record. Also, that was in 1995. Check out http://www.melissa data for the correct info. The 1st need to update theirs) Unfortubately, with the economy the way it is, the crime rate is something we all have tollook out for, second to Other Drivers. Safety is always #1! But, You are correct. I admit my mistake.
