What to expect at a meet and greet? What will we do? I am thinking of going but don't want to ride in alone not knowing anyone. I have met Doug before but I am sure he will be busy with things as he is near and from what I read very active in this. Besides camping or hotel what do you think is a good budget to have for something like this. Does anyone from the syracuse area want to travel together? well these are some things that have crossed my mind today so I am asking thanks

Well, it is MEET and GREET, part of the purpose is to meet new folks, and at NASSIR II that is just what I did. Tons of fun. No real organized activities outside of the dinner and slow ride competitions.

As for budget, you will need money for gas for any rides you might decide to do and money for food. Other than that you can get by pretty economically.

It looks like this one will be using the Moose club as a base where a lot of people will be sitting around shooting the bull, and sipping beverages. D-Rod and Button Lady will have all the info for that and there is a page about the NASSIR III.

http://nassir3.info/

Drive on over and join the fun.

I have met Doug before but I am sure he will be busy with things as he is near and from what I read very active in this. -  Why don't you start a thread asking who wants to ride in together? Post your expected route and day/time of departure. Anyone who is in the area of your proposed route and wants to team up will answer your post. According to my calculations, you are only 143 miles from the event(A 2 1/2 -3 hr ride at most, riding US 20). The last 2 events, I rode in excess of 2700 miles and at least 3 x 11 hr days solo before I meet up with another rider in your exact same position, whom I didn't know from Adam and then we rode another day and a half to get to an event where I knew no one other than the rider that wanted to ride with me(ponymanr). On my 2nd NASSIR Event, I rode for 10 days, covering over 3500 miles before meeting up with Winger77(whom I never laid eyes on before and we spent the next 8 days together riding to and at the event, before parting ways. Besides camping or hotel what do you think is a good budget to have for something like this. Does anyone from the syracuse area want to travel together? well these are some things that have crossed my mind today so I am asking thanks  -  Rough guesstimate would be less than $60 for fuel to/from and riding around at the event.(<$30 for just the return ride) Lodging can be had for as little as $5/night, camping at the Moose Lodge. Then you'll need money for eats and maybe a few $ if you decide to participate in the Aucton.

If Digger is there you'll need $11.31 to outbid him on anything.

Deer alerts have been sold at the auction as well but the Irish tend to scoop up those bargains. :cheeky1:

Hi elvisskan I am planning on attending this years Nassir 3 and it will be my first time also. I'm bringing my 14year old son with me and making a father son vacation out of it. Going to go to Canada and see the sights and falls over there. I've been to the falls back in 88 so I'd like to see them again. I'm staying at the Red Roof Inn for 45 dollars anite. I'm going on Sunday the 11th and riding home on Friday the 16th. I'm traveling on I-84 to 17 so I am south of you. Have you ever been to Americade in Lake George? Americade is the 7th to the 13th I believe. I'm thinking Nassir is alot smaller-like 100 or so people compared to 100,000 people. It will be cool meeting others from this forum who are from all over the country. If you can go I think you'll have a nice ride out and learn alot too. If you want to ride my way give me a pm. gtwing:waving:

Hopefully it never gets much bigger than it is has been so far. When and if it does it would become more formal and not as much fun....
Besides with my memory I can't take too many more people in, then I have to start discarding :)

You've already gotten some great info from these guys but I'll add this.  I've attended both NASSIR 1 & NASSIR 2 as well.  It's not difficult to meet up with others on the way.  Since you're so close, there will probably be several members travelling close by that you could hook up with.  Even if you can't manage to hook up with anyone, 150 miles is pretty easy to do solo.  I did the first 875 miles solo for NASSIR 2 because there wasn't anyone else going the way I was going, but then I met up with clpete & his Mrs. in Salt Lake, had never met them before, then rode with them to Delta UT and met up with exavid & his brother Gary.  I'd never met Gary before either, but I have had the pleasure of riding with exavid several times, including all the way across the country & back, through 22 states & 7100 miles, for NASSIR 1.  Then along the way we ran into Ruaidh and rode on in to Montrose with him.  Hadn't met him before either.  For NASSIR 1 we gathered several people to our group of myself, exavid & NaturalyGW, when we hit the east, including Ponymanr, Dusty Boots, BlackGW, Keith64 & his Mrs, Sandiegobrass & BigE, and we didn't even plan it. :)  You've already made the first step, letting people know you'd like to hook up.  If you want to make sure it happens, when it gets closer to travel time, send some PM's to some that would likely be coming your way.  You'll not regret going I'm sure.  I've had a blast at the first two.  Unfortunately I won't be making #3 unless I hit the lottery. :(  Don't miss out on hanging with some of the best people around when you have them so close!

John

I will guarantee that you'll have a good time and look for the big, shy guy with a thong on his head, and will want to come back to NASSIR year after year! :action:

It is neat to put faces with names and get to really meet the members on this forum and does make a difference once your back home and on the forum. Just gives another perspective to the enjoyment here on the forum!

just be yourself and don't worry about not knowing the other people, that won't last for long. we travelled to the Colorado m&g from the other side of the world and didn't know anyone and they were all great. even though we never met them before, we all got on well and the different accents is all we had to get used to.

Late for school, see ya........

All I have to say is seeing a grown man ak--Flyone walking around with a thong on his head is worth the ride. It will also give you a whole new perspective of life. Thankfully there are meds to combat this personality complex.:dude::coollep:. It'll be even scarier if goldwinger shows up with his leopard skin.. See you there. Tony:waving:

Hey Elvisskan, I am thinking of going up for one overnight and I am from Marcellus too.  I have never been before and don't know what to expect either.  I met "Mohawk" last fall, he is in Baldwinsville and if I recall correctly he said he is going, but I think for the whole week (or most of it).

Send me a PM with your exact location if you wish.

Expect to have a great time.
If you enjoy reading and interacting on the forum, then you will enjoy them in person too.
Budget is dependent upon how well you like to eat and where you will stay.
Gas is not usually more than a tank a day for most rides.
Look forward to seeing you there.

The only thing I can tell you that you will miss a huge opportunity to meet people of this forum especially being in the same state that this event is being held in!
