 Looks like it's shaping up to be quite an event!!  I've got two more events to attend before this one and two more after. My jaws should be worn out by the time I get back home!

Ok so just signed on. I have been looking around the site for about some time now. Just made a Wing purchase today Guy wants the real stuff as in 100 dollar bills so will make the deal on Tuesday. Count be in for this trip. Reserved AO21 for the three nights. Whem now have to purchase a tent, pad, stove, etc. etc. Any suggestions for these items and or a place to look. Ken

Best everyday prices are usually found at Campmor. Best return policy (even year after purchase with receipt) is at REI. Check out a few of the camping gear threads for more gear info. Good gear is not cheap, but it does the job well and will last you a lifetime. Dusty

50 miles to crater lake for the Friday ride. I am hyped up about this. I will be there the afternoon of the 18th.

Wish I could join you guys  ... that's almost in the back yard  , but with a brother flying in from Fairbanks on the 18th then leaving on my Labor Day jaunt ... well next time for sure.

Apparently they do draw the drinking water from Diamond Lake. The warnings talk about not being able to boil out the algae and to find alternative drinking water sources. Course… I also read an article from last year that said the warnings were ignored by most of the people…. there were kids swimming in the lake without adverse effects.

I am not so concerned about the alge in the water as I am about the mosquitoes and ticks. Be prepared for the worst onslaught of misquitoes that you've ever seen once it starts to approach sunset. As I live on the west side of the Cascades, at sea level, we don't see many of these critters, therefore we don't plan for them until we travel to that side of the mountains... and we have another experience with them. Don't forget the OFF!!

People from Goldwing Owners Group are from Oregon and they are suggesting to move the m&g to a different park as that one is particularity bad for mosquitoes in August. I am like John.... lets unleash hell on them critters... and bring some OFF for the ones that get away!! When we were there in '05 it was zero problem. Besides, during the day we are riding. Let them chase us at 60!!
