My youngest son and I are 75% sure that we are going to be there Fri, Sat, and leaving Sun morning.

My oldest son (24) lives in Pa and just found out he has cancer. He had an operation a couple of weeks ago but while they were in there, the found that it had spread to his Lymph nodes and lung. He is going to be starting Chemo Therapy in a couple of weeks and we have to be there to help him during that. Keep him in your prayers.

Sorry to hear that. Prayers coming your way from the Halfling Family.

Let me know if you want to meet up on Friday for the trip up.
I leave on Thursday after work and make it over to Knoxville before dark (about 180 miles) and then leave there on Friday morning and cover the remaining 420 miles up I-81. That would put me in Fort Chiswell VA (190 miles from Knoxville) somewhere around 11:00.

John: We will know at least a week out if I will need to be in Pa at that time or not, so that leaves us plenty of time, but yes, I would definitely like to meet up, and also would like to extend the invitation that if you would like, you could come right to the house and stay here if you wanted, we have a spare room. It would be a little farther than you had planned to travel the first day, and it's a little off the beaten path, about 60 miles off 81 to the south, but then you could at least get a horrible night sleep in a strange bed with strange noises and stuff........ which might just beet sleeping outside on the ground........ Not sure....

Thanks for the offer jobe05 (it is greatly appreciated) but I'll be spending the evening at Dubswing's home in Knoxville this time. I'll send you a PM with my cell # and we can set up something over the next week or so for a meeting place/time in Fort Chiswell VA on Friday the 30th. Maybe there's a rest area on 81 or a particular gas station.

There's an exit just past exit 81 (the 77s connector), exit 84, theres not much at that exit but there is Gas and a DQ..... Just sayin.......

Your welcome on the invite, and it's an open invite, anytime you need a place to crash, just drop on in, we don't lock the doors, so if we're not there, the coffee is in the cupboard to the left of the stove.  Everything else is self explanatory.

Thanks everyone for you thoughts, Prayers and well wishes for my son Johnny.  He's undergoing so many test right now I wish we could pick and chose the answers we get but we cant.  He has testicular cancer which is the most curable cancer there is, but we just keep getting the worst of the worst of news.

Before the operation they warned us of spreading, but it was one of those things they tell you because they have to, but don't you worry kind of things.  Then it came to fruition during the operation that it had spread.  The Dr said however that once the cycle of life is disrupted, it will start dying off on its own, and they will finish it with medication (Not Chemo).  Then test results came back during the operation that sowed the spot on the lung, were it had spread, again, completing it's circle of life to spread even further........  This is  very aggravating and scary all at the same time.

I know God won't give us anything that we can't handle however, and if we think we don't understand, God will help us find out.

Suddenly I'm seriously thinking about coming...

I don't have any experience camping, and I am not prepared to do so. I would have to do a motel.

Is there any one motel in particular that people are gravitating toward?

I was thinking about camping, but I don't have any experience at it.  I haven't slept out in a tent since I was in ROTC.

So if I wanted to do this camping out, what would I need?

I know I'd need a tent and a sleeping bag.

What else?

I can pull my trailer behind my motorcycle so I can bring whatever I need.  I figure if we are going to end up shooting the bull outdoors, I'm going to carry a folding chair.

But I don't want to get there and be miserable because I didn't think to bring something needed.

Someone mentioned sharing a campsite, is that a practical option?  I'd be interested.

Can anyone coach me through this?

Change of clothes, towel, wash clothe, toiletries and soap, toothbrush and paste, toilet paper, map, chair, sweatshirt, wetsuit, tent, sleeping bag, flashlight, pillow. If something is forgotten you can always buy it. There is always a Walmart just around the next corner.

Never doing it before, and on such short notice, think I would hotel it this time.

I'm camping at a different campground than some and others are staying in a hotel. Never been much for a campfire.

Google Front Royal Campground. I think they have cabins but do not know the price. Should be cheaper than a hotel.
