Dusty,

Please never loose interest in moto-camping or forum participation. The way you share your information that took so long to organize for yourself is just divine.

Your willingness to extend help to others is noted here and I am going to put in a good word to the karma gods for someone with a humble name such as "Dusty Boots."

Thanks.

Hi Larry,
Come see us.

I may be a little off your track in Sarasota, FL, but if you wander over my way there is a room for you. (45 min. from I-75)

We will be back home on 12-09-11. So let me know if this fits your game plan.

You can do a maintenance shot (oil change??) on the bike too, all set up.

PM me for further info if you are interested.

Flaps down and brakes off pal.

Steve and I are going to meet very soon to discuss our strategies / objectives and routing once we get into the southern part of our trip.  I think my time on the road is being shortened and therefore my mileage is being curtailed.  Steve needs to be home for Christmas.  He already has the Santa suite....

I believe as far as I am going east will be New Orleans unless I get someone waving from someplace along the gulf coast that is offering to take me out on a fishing trip.... I would pay for the bait and fuel.  Then, I would be re arranging my trip plans.

Steve is heading north from New Orleans to Joplin Mo.  I will be back tracking along the coast to south Texas to visit my brother and his wife in Mission Texas.

Steve and I will meet up again around San Antonio for the return trip to the northwest through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon and then home.  All of that return route has not been determined.

Well my real trip is to Gulport, MS and then to Long boat Key, Florida
I thought maybe we might meet up and ride some to FL, but if New Orleans is far as you go East I guess not.

I may ride into Texas first though, so depending when ya'll are riding over to New Orleans maybe we could meet up around Texas somewhere? I have not decided for sure about that part of the trip.

That would be great.  Have you done any fishing out of the Gulf?

I will be looking at that route sometime soon.  For the immediate answer is I will probably be following some kind of arch along the gulf coast and then over to Mission Tx.  Unless I get a reason to pop into San Antonio or other areas of interest.

Thanks for that generous offer.

I will probably be in that area initially around the 11th, 12th or 13th of Dec.  I suspect we will be regrouping to head back around the 19th or 19th, so I will be down in and around my brother's place in Mission Tx or dinking around.

What can I expect of the weather in your area at that time of year?  Are you riding through December?

I will be hauling my laptop and will keep a blog as to what or where we are.  We will be utilizing a spot checker which I will be attached to until we get to New Orleans.  I think the spot will go north with Steve to Joplin.

I would love some sea food.  Never had one of those sea food boils and some grits or whatever ya eat with that.  Looking forward to it.  I never met a food I didn't like.

You would be looking at a full days ride out of New Orleans on I-10 east to US 19 south to the toll road through Tampa and hook up to I-275 south to i-75. This is one of many ways, but my favorite.

When in NO you have to have an Oyster Po Boy out of the French Quarter. (Johnny's Po-Boy, 511 St Louis St.) :blackstuff:

No, I've never been out into the Gulf yet.

I almost bought a boat a few years ago but then I figured I did not know how to sail it so why buy it LOL

I'd need something big enough to live on and small enough I could sail it alone.

With the kid living in Gulfport, MS now and Mom snow birds in Long Boat Key, FL now, I am thinking again about a sail boat. Float back and forth to visit LOL

UPDATE:

For purposes updating and redefining the trip, I will start a new thread and refer to it here. I will call the tread "Seattle to New Orleans and points in between."

If you have questions or comments about this trip, please refer to the new thread. We will monitor this thread but would prefer to have one thread for major information.

Our updated thread.

I do too, but timing is a little bit off as I'm actually rebuilding the middle motor right now. I'll be back up running shortly so keep that in mind for your next adventure.
