OK Members, here is a tuff one for ya. I really think with the numbers of people we have on this forum now, that we should be ready to throw a great Rally together for all of the US and Canadian people that can make it. We need to pick the best central spot we can find and make it happen. I will volunteer our Ranch here in N. Ga for the first suggestion just to get the ball rolling and selecting a location. We have unlimited camping, good parking on pavement, great party facilities, Rec room, industrial size swimming pool and a gazillion miles of twisty roads. I know there are other places out there too, so start the input.
This past summer I attended a rally with the Venture Riders Forum out in Colorado. Same type of forum like Steve's but much smaller. That rally had about 85 members show from all over. Lots of west coast and Ont Canada, to Maine. I was impressed and we had fun.
Lets talk about it and see if we can get something in the works. Plenty of lead time for all who need to put in for vacation time this year or need time to save up their nickles for the trip. What thinks you
Forgot to mention we have dozens of motels close and lots of eating places.
THE NORTH AMERICA STEVE SAUNDERS RALLY WILL BE HELD ON
SEPTEMBER 25th 26th 27th 28th
HALF-FORK RANCH
175 HAMMOND RD SE
CALHOUN, GA 30701

Here's the current list (to my knowledge) of members booked at the Country Inn as of February 04, 2008:
- Wexman & better half
- Silverfox and Helen the Viking
- Tynkerbelle and Peterbylt
- 96aspencade & Mrs. 96aspencade
- Exavid
- Wrongway & wife Bonnie
- rcmatt007
- english bob & Mrs. english bob
- creekwalker
- snorebaby & Mrs. snorebaby
Website for the Country Inn, Calhoun: http://www.countryinns.com/hotels/gacalhou/services
Reminder: If anybody books just make sure you tell them you're with the Goldwing group and also PM me with the name used for the booking. That way I can keep track of how many rooms we have etc.
Please visit the events Forum and read the post there about rally information and list of those attending. PM Cyote61 with questions or for being added to lists.

Well I think it's a brilliant idea Coyote, and good for you for volunteering your 'little' place as a venue
why not ask Wingnut or Wexman to make this a 'sticky', so everyone can see it 'on top'
Come on you lot, let's see you beat the Welsh Meet N Greet for numbers! (there's enough of you over there after all)

Great Idea Cyote, however I think it should be more north central, to make it easier for our Canadian brothers. Just my $0.02

I'm in! Just let me know when/where. While I agree that N.Ga isn't the most central location, I like the fact of all the facilities available. Sounds like a great set up hosting a rally. Perhaps late spring would be a good time, before the temp/humidity is off the charts!
If it ends up being at Cyotes, I'd be glad to help organize. I'm fairly local.

Well I don't have a ranch to offer, however there are tons and tons of Hotel/motels and camping areas all around here, and some of the most beautiful riding anyone could ask for.

Good idea Cyote61. The "corner of walk & don't walk, Iowa" is about as central US as you can get. Any good riding out that way Digby? All I remember is corn.
With a continent as large as ours, alternating sites over the years may be a scenario. Example: This year Georgia, next year British Columbia. (Not to mention COW&DW, Iowa). Or something like that.

I just ran a bunch of mileage rings from our location here in N. GA If any one wants to know where we are just look 45 miles below Chattanooga TN on Interstate 75. Anyhow back to mileage. If you compare it to miles ridden from the places people came from to the Colorado meet, its about the same. More people came out to Colorado from the East, over 1300 + than did the west coast and north west, but quite a few bikes did come from there.
Trying to pick a place that is perfect is a tough game on these things. Kansas City is about as perfect as you can get for being centered. But then there is the need for facilities for camping, motels, meals, organizers, etc. What the Venture group did was rent a Moose Hall and cater food, but there was no drinking allowed except outside. That was ok and they put on a good rally, also spent quite a bit of money to do it so everyone was charged entry fee. These are all food for thought here.
If it takes place here on our ranch then no cost for the most part. Very private, lots of recreation things here on the place also. You've got the dragons tail out the back door and even lots better twisty's than the dragon tail closer. I've got a huge work shop if someone or ones want to put on a fixit workshop or a wrench day as they call it. The point is, I don't care where we end up having it, lets just make it happen. There is no such thing as the perfect location for everyone but a 2 or three day ride is not such a big deal to lots of us if it's going to be a good time.
Lets keep pushing this around and see where we can take it. And thanks for offers of help from everyone that wants to get involved. We'll need all the help we can get with tour guides and etc. Plus we gotta have a raffle of some kind to,
