Excuse me guys and gals..... can I remind you that there are cold blooded Irish and Englishmen coming over for this big shindig and we would very much appreciate it if you could sort it for us to enjoy some nice "hloday weather".

The following should be quite agreeable to our paletes:

Nice balmey warm days, anywhere between 71 and 76 degrees please.

Sun high in the sky so as not to strain our delicate eyes, that are not used to squinting in sunlight.

No liquid sunshine, ( except at night if your crops need it)

No hurricanes, tornadoes, or other weird natural disasters please.

Oh! and whilst we are at it, could you see that all the deer leave the area for the duration and that all the roads are pot hole free, tar snakes are sanded over daily and all metal grills on bridges are kept dry and free from oil and other debris. No bears roaming the streets, all cage drivers give us a wide berth and don't jump intersection light.

If anybody gets the chance, could you look out a couple of right hand drive bikes, only I don't really need to have to worry about familliarizing myself with ones with left hand drive. :grinner:

Cheers guys. :D:D

No liquid sunshine, ( except at night if your crops need it)  (Crops be damned; let the peanuts dessicate in the fields! ;-))) Massive apologies, to anyone from GA!

No hurricanes, tornadoes, or other weird natural disasters please.  (You don't get it, Pete....this weather is normal now!)

Cheers guys. :D:D
You know, Silverfox, I'd respond to your questions, but hey, no-one wants my (ever so humble) opinion, anyway! hahaha  Take heart; landing an aeroplane (especially a 747) in a hurricane is well, bound to be an adventure, and isn't that why we travel? :cooldevil:

When I mentioned bears Pete, I was thinking more of your little run in with one than Hobo. :cooldevil:

Glad to hear that you can pretty much sort out my requests, this leaves me free to worry about the poached lizards, marinated road kill, gators ( I thought they were things that held the bottom of me trousers up when I was in the millitary guard back in my navy days:cheeky1:) and those bugs the size of small water buffallo. I guess full face helmets with armoured visors will be the order of the day?

Do you think anyone will mind if I disregard the traffic light system, only I really don't get the idea of being able to turn if there is a red light? Perhaps if I jsut treat every road junction as a round about it might work., I will just crawl around the edge of the curb and hope no one notices me!!! :D

Well, yes, Pete, we'll have to get you and Helen down into the lowland, swampy bits, in order to see a "gator"! :cheeky1:  I'm fairly sure there are no gators, north of Atlanta; they are not known to inhabit the southern reaches of the Appalachian Mountains....

If we do get you over to the coast (I've heard that Charleston South Carolina is lovely, and it's not very far away), we'll be sure to haul some gators out of the marshes, just so you can both say that you've seen one!

Atlanta GA, is also, in my memory, quite an interesting place, so, with a little research, it is no doubt worth at least a day or two..... if you do get to downtown Atlanta, watch out for the Peach Trees....they are considered a national blight ....everything is "Peach this" and "Peach that"- if "Peach" is in an address you're looking for, you are, well, quite buggered, mate.....as there will be ten thousand addresses, with "Peach" in it!  Once again, I apologise to my beloved friends from Georgia.....y'all are great, and yes, I'm just having fun!  (OK, you can beat me with a stick, at a later date, ok?). :cheeky1:

Maybe I should bring some of my infamous Peach Lippy then to sell to the local populace!!!:D

I can happily pass on the gators, I have gotten up close and friendly with some crocs in Africa back in the '70's  and that was good enough for me.

Oh yes...btb (that's by the way, in Yank Speak), Scooter 7 has made a good point.  Most US states now have a "right turn on RED" law.....it's ok, to turn right, after a full stop, and well, obviously, assuming that the lane you're turning into is clear of traffic.

No-one gets beat up, for not doing that (ummm....do they?) :cheeky1: :cheeky1: :cheeky1:

So, the basic rule is; if in doubt, don't do it! :dude:

Here's one, to shock you/open your eyes- here in Oregon (I've lived here for 16 years, coming on 17, now) they have some laws that I consider to be, well, completely insane!

If you are on a two-way street, that adjoins a one-way street (typically, a big north or southbound boulevard, in any Oregon town), you may, after a full stop, make a "Left Turn on Red"!!!!!!!!  The logic seems sound; countless dead folks will tell you that it doesn't work very well.  It assumes a whole bucket of things that aren't true, like:

a) you have sufficient sight distance to make sure you won't collide with someone..

b) everyone is going the speed limit (hardly ever the case)

c) all drivers involved do NOT have their "head up their arse"- clearly, most do.....

d) It trains one into some really bad habits, like thinking you are free to turn across oncoming traffic.  Just my 2 cents/pence worth, but I think it's idiotic....

Not to worry, Pete....this goofy rule is not the norm, and I'm quite sure, does NOT apply, in Georgia, so.....YOU (and Helen) are NOT at risk!  The biggest risk in Atlanta is going to the "Varsity", across from the Georgia Tech college campus, in the middle of the night, and ordering a "PC and a Chili Dog"!  Inside joke; I'll explain later, if desired!

I shall be coming, fully expecting to make some huge English gaffs, which will probably enrage the law enforcement officers and members of the general public alike. I am aiming to use my trump card, by flying the Union Jack at all times, and hoping and praying that this will give me a, keep out of jail card.

I shall refrain from announcing that "I am going outside for a quick fag" and instead refer to  "going for a smoke." If I am running short on tobacco, I will definately not use our usual term... "any chance I could bum a fag off you mate?":shock: and I ask in advance that if I should fall foul of verbal gaffs that everyone doesn't choke on their beer or coffee, or worse still clonk me one :cheeky1::cheeky1:

Absolutely brilliant, mate....this is the sort of ingenuity that makes American millionaires, and believe me, you're much brighter than most of those blokes! :cheeky1:

I will be able to say "I knew you when".... my mate, Silverfox, the American money-buckets! :cheeky1::cheeky1: :cheeky1:  I'm laughing Pete, but not REALLY....you could do it, I'm sure, and I'd be proud of you.  All kinds of stupid gits have!  OOOOPS! Now THAT didn't come out quite right...you KNOW what I mean! hahahaha :dude:

Pete, I regret to inform you that you'll need to try much harder if you want to "run afoul of the law", here! :dude:  I suspect that some of your national football (soccer) fans have it in them, but seriously, if you or Helen "surrender to the law" here, they will probably beg your forgiveness, and offer to accomodate you, in their own homes?!  Yes, even (or especially) in Georgia, where they are known for their hospitality!  (It's true, I promise; you couldn't hope to meet more lovely people)! hahaha :cheeky1: :cheeky1:   I hope this hasn't ruined your self-image, Silverfox! :cooldevil:

We Yanks are fairly used to the term "fag" (English sense) here; you might get a smile, but in order to shock, you'd need to refer to "blowing a fag", which would bring down serious mirth/laughter upon you......  when they stop choking, they'll ask "Excuse Me?" (i.e. please explain!)

I'm probably not the one, Silverfox, but....you might do what I did, in the UK.... track down someone you can trust, and stick to them, like glue.

Btb, thanks for doing that for me, in the UK....those first few hours are a bit on the "hairy" (scary) side, and then it's fine....although you and I both know that you goof up the worst when you're in a familiar low-speed scenario, like a parking lot.....I was idling through a village in southern Austria, last summer, and found myself carefully tracking the left lane.....the oncoming (thankfully low speed) trafffic straightened me out, tout suite! :cooldevil:  OOOOO....PPPPP....SSSSSS! :cheeky1:

If it's any consolation, there's a guy in my town from England that, up until a couple years ago, was still driving on his England Driver's License.  He got pulled over for something or another and presented his license to the cop.  After much deliberation, it was decided to let him off with a verbal warning rather than having to deal with the paperwork associated with a foreign license.

Well Pete, if you want to stay out of trouble with the law, just keep repeating all the way over on the plane.  "I must remember to drive on the wrong side of the road.":cheeky1:

The fag comments will get you some looks and giggles but probably not hurt too bad.

As for M/C Pete saying to find someone you trust and stick too them, I'm not sure you'll be able to trust anyone now.  Everyone will be watching closely for a good laugh.

Oh! trust me J he has gas like you have never known before!!!:cheeky1:

Goldwings4ever, I expect full support from all attending members and I am sure that all gaffs by me will be quietly overlooked, or I will have them quietly explained to me, by some kind hearted soul. :3sum:

If the roles were reversed, I would naturally not even dream of doing this....:cheeky1::cheeky1: but would of course descretly explain the error of your ways, in the most diplomatic manner....... yeah right!!!!:cooldevil::cooldevil:
