It could be as little as 16 hours (900 miles) from Toronto Canada. More if one takes the scenic route. Isn't that what Goldwings were built for?

I think it's a great idea Tom.  Unfortunately unless things change drastically this year, an East Coast trip is out of my range, or even a more central location for that matter.  I do think it's a great idea though.  Bump to the top anyway.

Cyote it all sounds great only thing that you might want to consider is inviting The Man , the founder of this web site, Mr Steve Sanders over to have a taste of American hospitality. I personally don't know exactly when I'll be taking my vacation, but after looking at the videos on the Dragons Tail ride, you can bet your bottom dollar that as soon as my wing is that road worthy , we will be making a 900 mile ride there and 900 miles back to Texas.

I'm all for having an American Meet and Greet but I also know that finding a "perfect" place is going to be hard to do. In Texas we have some nice rides in the Hill country but nothing like the Dragon.

So!!!! Looks like you guys and gals are getting jealous of us lot over here, who managed a huge turn out in Ireland last year and are now planning a meet & greet which already has attendance figures of nearly 100 aiming to turn up!!!:cheeky1::cheeky1:

Of course, depending on timings and of course finances, if this was a goer, I might be book-marking this as a possible with Helen the Viking.:)

Once a location and dates are decided, I will look at airports near by and any other logistics. We would love to come out State side to see some of you folks and this sort of potential gathering would be as good an opportunity as any.

If it didn't work out for this year for us, then maybe next year..........:baffled:

This is starting to sound like a great idea. The four regions thing would even it out for the miles. Sooner or later if you want to attend, everyone will have to travel some distance. Keep the idea rolling!!!

Great idea on the regions, but i would include a part of Canada in each region selected that way its fair for everybody. Gives the folks across the border to host one whatever region is up to bat. I say we do it by vote and which ever region gets picked someone or a group has to step up to the plate and get something going. Do it annually or by-annually i love to ride, and of course the folks around the world are automatically invited. So lets take a shot at picking regeons.

We already have our region covered.  It's called SERRASJ.  Meet 2x/year.

You could expand it to camping over at Cyotes place although he seems to favor the midwest crowd over the group in his own state for some reason. :baffled:

Maybe I'm the reason. :cheeky1:

The Ferret is correct.  The southeast is covered by the SERRASJ.  The plans for the spring ride aren't finalized yet, so no reason we couldn't incorporate the meet at Cyote61's.  If others around the country want to make it into a time to travel down and join in, that'd be fine!

This is why I started this subject! If we want to get something going we needed input and all of you have started working on this. All great idea have been added to the plot. :)

I'd like to add a little more perspective to this now. #1. Regions are great and we have to have them to make this work. #2. All the clubs and forums have regions so that members can attend without having to traipse 2000 miles to participate. #3. Each year the one annual event should be held in a different region until it comes full circle, I.E. "wingding" is a classic example. #4. Each region should hold it's own meet and greets yearly at what ever location the planners and doer's choose within the region. #5. Call the annual event what you want, International is OK too and then we can set some more regions up for the folks across the pond. OR, we can have the European international meet and the North America International meet, both! They seem to have their act together over there already and I doubt they want us suggesting they change what they do. #6. Open to any and all guests to attend, not matter the brand of bike. Bring your friends, so many the better. Any rally should be open and welcome to our founders, and all members from over the puddle. :dude:IF we want international participation then we have to keep in mind airport locations also.

OK the floor is open again, sorry I think I went past my alloted time.

It's a good idea Cyote.

Sort of like having a grand gathering someplace in the US that is different each year.

Yes you did:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:but all great points.Just to add something here what ever region is 1st and the area picked folks should get involved in that area and not leave it up to 1 or 2 people, done correctly it's a lot of work but the results are worth it.

Boy you have never been more correct on that. One or two people can not put on a big rally. The members from the region has to get involved. :) I think were there may be some confusion is that the "North America Rally" (just a name for now until the members decide what it should be called) is not to take the place of any local or regional gathering. ;) One brand name forum I'm familiar with has three types of gatherings, meet and eats, (local), meet and greets, (regional) and the annual ride in.(US & Canada combined) :)

I would never suggest to impose myself on what dates were open for me when a rally is planned by someone else. If I'm free I go, but as most know I'm gone a lot touring on bikes. On your last gathering I was in West Verginnie.

I like the idea of regions... but your list is a bit incomplete and requires too much effort for me... (where are Indiana, Ohio, etc.)

My suggestion would be simple....  by time zone... but three regions...

Eastern is EST

Central is CST

Western is MST and PST....

(or if you like it better, put MST with central, doesn't matter... not a big population of bikes in MST, probably not enough to warant its own region)

Hey, that sounds like a simple method. Lets see what the group thinks on that. :D
