The Country Inn in Calhoun has offered us a group rate of $73.00 per night. It looks like a nice place with indoor pool and continental breakfast included. (edited on Feb.6/08 due to group rate re-negotiated down to #73.00 per night). Group rate does not include applicable taxes of course.

The name of the lady I've been dealing with at the Country Inn is Regina.

10 of us have already booked our rooms and as long as we book a minimum of 10 for the group we get the $73.00 rate.

NOTE: To get the group rate you MUST phone the Country Inn at 706-625-6500. Make sure you tell them you're with the Goldwing Group.

http://www.countryinns.com/hotels/gacalhou/services

Reminder: If anybody books just make sure you tell them you're with the Goldwing group and also PM me with the name used for the booking. That way I can keep track of how many rooms we have etc.

Wrongway,

We moved so now you have 4 rooms at the Country Inn! The inside pool and hot tub did it!

That's great. Exavid is also booked now so that's
  • tynkerbelle and peterbuilt
  • siverfox and helen the viking
  • wrongway & Bonnie
  • aspencade96 and Barb (and possible Barb's brother Brian)
  • exavid
  • mr and mrs wexman (Ciaran and Fabienne Meyler )
I'll relax more once we've reached 10 rooms because I've signed the contract and given them my credit card number which blocks 20 rooms with a minimum of 10 required for the group rate.:cheeky1::cheeky1:

I called the Country Inn today and tried to make my reservation, they took my name and phone number and said they would call back in a couple of days, (next week, I'm sure).   The lady said she didn't have the "GoldWing Group" stuff together yet.  Has anyone else experienced this or just me?:baffled:

I just booked in and she took all my details and I told her I was with the GOLDWING group and she was not too sure and asked me what rate we were getting and I told her ,but I told her not to worry as we would sort it out on arrival if need be ,I should be there first and I can use my Irish Charm and wave my AXE at them and we will get all the discounts we need ,:cheeky1::cheeky1:

PS ,I got a confirmation reference number ...so I am 100% booked in ...

I'll send an email right now letting Regina know that this happened.

Not sure if I'll hear back from her today but when I do I'll let you know.

I just booked on line yesterday http://www.countryinns.com

and added Goldwing Group to the comment section, I am sure they will honor the group rate.

Wrongway did she give you a particular type of room that rate was for?

We booked a king and will be happy to pay the difference, I think it was only $79

Either way I wanted to make sure you had enough for a group rate for everybody else.

Thanks, Tynk

just called the hotel to make reservations and was told the computer was down and it would probably be tommorow before they could set up the reservations.  she assured me it would not be a problem and they would call back probably tommorow.

I already received an email back from Regina as follows:

=======================================================

"Greg,

We are having a problem with our system.  Support is trying to fix it.  That's why the block has not been loaded yet.
I promise we will make it happen.

Regina"
=================================================
Also, for those who have already booked, I'm going to need the name on the booking so that I can make sure you're part of the group recorded by the hotel. I'll try and PM each of you but if you see this first, please PM me.

Thanks, Greg
