Well, it is 11:20 pm and I just made it home. Roads all around my apartment are flooded and I almost couldn't get here.
Had a blast today. The diner and the city of Dexter, Kansas will never be the same. I would love to see the city newspaper in the morning. (wonder if they have one) % really think that we need to stay away from there for a while and let things calm down. Don't want to stir them people up too much down there. That was probably more excitement that they have seen in a long time.
I am also suprised that we didn't get the cops called on us on the turnpike. All I know is that my ribs and gut was hurting from laughing so much.
Thanks Cloud9, yldcats, whbondjr & Bills Girl for a great afternoon even though we almost got caught up in a tornado. Can you say Yikes!
We will have to do this again......only minus the weather.

You didn't stop on the turnpike on the way home and do your tin soldier march again did ya?????? That will definately be one to remember.......
Still wish I had a camera to take a photo of that girls face that waited on us at the hamburger stop when you told her what large slabs of onions do to ya....... What a priceless photo that would have made.

Wow! What a night!!!!
Besides all the rain, T-storms, Hail, Flooding, Tornadoes, getting cloud9 in my pickup and heading home to Olathe, taking Patch back through the terrential rain back in West Wichita and making it back across the flood waters back to my house..................The friggin sump pump quit!!! Yee Haw!! So I spent the first night that I wasn't going to be awaken in four days by storms babysitting a sump pump!! Yes the float switch is stuck and sometimes would work but mostly not.
Good news is that my basement IS NOT flooded because I finally got the float switch stuck in the on position and have been pumping water out and away from the house for the last two hours. We have had so much rain (last estimate was over 10 inches over the Memorial Day Weekend) the drain tiles are filling the sump as fast as the pump can get the water out. But don't worry, I did get two hours of sleep before the T-storm with hail woke me up beating on the windows. It sounded like someone was throwing rocks at the house and windows just like every other night of Memorial Day Weekend!
Dennis, I'm glad you got home OK and I'm sure glad you took my pickup instead of the bike!
The two cool things about last night was I got to spend time with some of my buddies drinking coffee and eating banana nut bread and hearing the stories of what I missed earlier in the day and I've now got three Goldwings in my garage to ride!!!!
Mrs. Flyone wants me to sell all three of them to see how much money we can make out of this deal!
She thought it was funny...........I didn't!!! (Well two of them maybe.....but NOT MINE!! )

Glad to hear everyone made it back home safe and sound, and y'all had a great ride and good times! I'm kind of glad I stayed around the house just because this year was a repeat of last years flood, and I needed to to get the bikes and other stuff out of the garage. What a mess!

Just thought I would pass on to you all my little trip I am calling "1000 on a 1000"
http://www.nakedgoldwings.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=95163#95163
if you have to ask why, you wouldn't understand!
Some of you may recall that I did the 1ron butt 1000 two years ago on my HD, and, unfortunately last summer had very little riding secondary to my extended hospitalization and recovery. So, this year I decided to do “1000 on a 1000”
May 24, 2008 04:21 am odo 116,960 I decided to start early and get in some miles before the sun came up, a couple of miles from home I saw a lady walking her dog (at 4:30 am) . Over the dam at Lake Oologah, lots of water being let out, unfortunately the Corps of Engineers did not think ahead to build it to generate power. 11 miles in at hwy 88 and 169, got stopped by a train heading north. North on hwy 169 and you have to love those Oklahoma town names… Oologah, Talala, Winganon, Lenapi and Delaware.
05:30 odo 117,001 Lenapi: Hwy 169 and hwy 10, a couple miles ago a light rain, but two miles ago a deluge. It is dark, LOTS of rain, I cannot see, I am going under 20 mph, and now sitting under a canopy at a closed c-store…. When it rains this hard, the old wings sputter. BTW, sure enough my rain pants leak…. Guess where! Sit for 30 minutes and the rain lightens up and it is getting light out.
06:15 odo 117,012 South Coffeyville: been on the road for almost two hours and have gone only 51 miles…. My gloves and feet are soaking. Not a good start.
07:19 odo 117,063 Fredonia: It is still raining, but not too bad. Lots of standing water in the fields. I see lightning in the distance. It occurs to me that maybe I am the tallest thing around…. Hmmm, get that thought out of my head…. Storms go from the SW to NE, and I am heading west. Maybe I will get out from under this.
08:45 odo 117,145 Wichita KS: Finally the rain has stopped, but, my hands and feet are cold… the other “wet-spot” has warmed up some-LOL!
10:15 odo 117,230 Pratt, KS: 10 miles west of town I see a bunch of crews working on a series of power poles blown over on the north side of the road. On the south side, trees denuded of branches and leaves and an 18 wheeler in the ditch. At least 3-4 hundred feet off the road to the north appears to be a red car in a field. Fire and rescue is there. I will read in Sunday’s paper the two occupants did not survive… Tornado season! Had breakfast and back on road at 10:45
11:15 odo 117,261 Greensburg KS: got gas. In 2007 a tornado hit this town, half of it is totally gone
13:09 odo 117,362 Garden City KS: Drove through Dodge City. This is cattle country. Lots of feed lots (what a wonderful smell). Corners of roads have liquefied cow waste which has sloshed off the trucks (I think, “wouldn’t it be embarrassing to drop your bike slipping in that!”) The cattle processing plants smell as well. Hate to say it, but, “I couldn’t wait to get out of Dodge!” Was Surprised at the name “Garden City” but compared to what I would see for the next several hundred miles, I guess it truly is a garden.
13:57 (Mountain Time) odo 117,460 Lamar CO. Hot Dry, Windy and Brown. You can tell when you approach a small town, as you will suddenly see a clump of trees. The rest is rather barren.
16:46 odo 117,557 Boise City OK: Now the wind is mostly straight at me. Drove through a dust devil-that was fun! Is it the altitude (4300+), or the head wind 30-40 mph, but does the throttle seem sluggish? If I thought it was desolate before, this is only more so.
18:00 odo 117,619 Guymon, OK: When we bought this bike we lived in Oregon, the next summer we took a 5,500 mile trip and stopped in Guymon. It was May 31, 1979 the odometer read 9,649 miles. I put in 2 gallons of gas and paid $1.55. Today I put in 1.4 gallons and paid $5.66
20:00 odo 117,742 Woodward, OK. Starting to green up some…. Off in the distance high thunderheads, and I am heading in their direction
21:45 odo 117,830 Enid OK. 40 miles ago it appeared I would finally meet the storms so back on with the rain gear. The last 20 miles there has been lots of water on the road, but none coming down, but I am heading right towards it. I stop for dinner at the IHOP, only 130 miles to make this happen, so do I change direction? At 22:45 I start heading in the planned direction
02:05 117,980 Oologah OK: No rain, but bumpy Oklahoma Highways. It is now hot and muggy so I get out of the rain gear
02:30 117,991 Home. Over 1000 miles in 22 hours….

I know you're more man than I'll ever be, sounds like a heck of a ride. Doesn't sound like you had time to find any good places for more biscuts & gravy.

Wish you all would stop mentioning those biscuits and gravy. Makes my mouth water every time I think of them. Cannot wait until August to sink my teeth into an order of them.
Still gonna have to take the challenge of a full order along with Candace. We have a side bet going on who can get the furthest through the order.
