 I know johnmac, Popeye, and cloud9 will be there....or at least that's what I have been told!

To answer everyone's question about the weather.......We are looking at it.

I just got home & checked the weather [NOAA] & they still state 60%  T-storms....& a lesser chance before & after 1-6 p.m.

The storm system seems too big for even them to get wrong.

Even if they do get it wrong...it may be for the worse.

We lose a huge Safety Factor with storms & especially wet roads...Unless the weather changes, I'm going to have to call it a bust.

The area before & after Rulo are serious flood zones, #7 has been underwater along with house-trailers, train tracks, road covered with logs [seen that].  It isn't civilized up there & no one to call if you go down.

If anyone is going to ride in the rains tomorrow, Seriously consider a different route.  Hope to see you ALL, next time.

OK, I'm calling the ball here.................... After Popeye's comments about the area (which I don't know the area at all) Let's cancel the KANWINGS1 ride for tomorrow. :X

Being Sunday is Mother's Day and next Saturday I have a Wedding to work at, I would propose to our group Sunday, May 18, 2008. Same times, same route, and same meeting setups for the official KANWINGS1 ride. This will hopefully better weather and the benefit would be that freonrick hopefully be released from the doctor to ride, whondjr, bill's girl and hopefully other's that I pm'ed around the state can ride then as well. What do you guys and gals think about this???:?

I am still looking at the weather and would be willing to ride to Emporia and meet people who want to ride for breakfast.  We could do the same place we meet last time say 9:30??

Please call me on my cell phone if you want to go on this unofficial KANWINGS1 ride as I will not be online tonight as I will be working at my Karoake show.

Ty, cloud9, Patch..............want to do breakfast???? CALL ME!!!

I'm fine with it. I want to have fun. Trying to see hazards on the winding 2 lane roads in the rain isn't fun!

I figured it was May.    Sunday MAY 18 sounds good.

Bill made a very good call cancelling tomorrow's ride.

We don't need anyone getting hurt.

The 18th is still May, so the weather may be no prize...we should know on the 17th.  Same route with johnmac, I hope.    What a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L ride.

We hope to see everyone next weekend......Be Safe.

You betcha your valk is welcomed!!!

Thanks Popeye for the kind words............I almost had "got to get there rithis" then I remembered my pilot training.....As bad as I wanted this ride to happen, and as bad as I wanted to go..............there will be another day and many more rides in the future with the great bunch of folks. :cooldevil:

We are riding in the morning to Emporia for breakfast as the weather forecast has changed somewhat and now the T-Storms won't start until the afternoon so we will have breakfast, then return home before the weather starts. The KANWINGS1 ride still would have had to deal with weather............so see some of you tomorrow, and the rest of you Sunday week. :)

Went outside at 2:15 p.m.  rain hit.  Cheched NOAA:

Hazardous Weather Outlook
Wind Advisory

Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. South wind around 15.....

Right decision, there.  Good hindsight.

Well Patch, cloud9, Dusty, Tybme, and yours truely meet in Emporia for breakfast. It was a lot of fun!!! :D

Just to let everyone know, the group was well behaved (believe it or not) No throwing of food and didn't get kicked out of the joint, but we stayed so long talking and telling stories that we had breakfast and they took that away and put lunch on the buffet, Yes we thought about it but didn't!

It looks like the weather people blew this one but I don't regret the decision to changing the KANWINGS1 Ride to Sunday week though even though the weather has held off so far (as of 3:30 pm) and looking like we probably could have gotten the ride in before the weather was a factor. :cussing:The Wichita area is under a tornado watch until 7pm and a wind advisory until 11pm with gusts over 50 mph. That would have been fun trying to return home   but who knows what rain or T-Storms we would have run into and who knows if we would have hit the 20% chance of no rain or not (but we did:clapper:) still the weather is fine (for now)..........Go figure! I want to have a job as a weather forecaster!!!

The weather looked gloomy going to Emporia for the Northern and Southern riders which made some of us wonder if breakfast was a good idea!! After we met, there was no doubt that is was a good idea!!!:D

I can't speak for the Northern riders, but we didn't have a drop of rain going or returning from Emporia. It was cloudy and half way gloomy but that's a good thing!! Patch told me that when he got back home, he had 200.0 mikes on the clock, I was close but not quite as much.

Popeye's hazardous weather statement said: THERE IS A POTENTIAL THAT SOME
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EAST AND SOUTH OF THE KANSAS TURNPIKE COULD
PRODUCE TORNADOES.

I'm glad we rode and hopefully are all back home!

Can't wait to see everyone next Sunday Morning!!! Yes, MAY 18!!

The cool thing about this is we will hopefully more people for the new date!! :byebye:

Yes, I too am glad to see that everyone made it home safe.  We had one hell of a wind storm here this afternoon.  I am so glad that flyone and I made it home before that hit.  We may have ended up over in Missouri if we would have been riding in that wind.

I am also glad that I didn't run into any more of those Hells Angles.   Don't know if I could have taken another a$$ whoopin' again.

Me & Sharon are lookin' forward to next Sunday,  11:30 a.m. at the Meriden, log cabin lookin' Gas Station.

I got wet in my yard at 2:15 yesterday....hail & rain banged-up my house around 4:10 p.m. & a bunch of wind in there to boot.  Just read 22 people were killed in that storm yesterday, from OK, MO & GA...didn't know it got that bad & REAL glad none of us were in it.

Next Sunday will be warmer, greener and drier.....hope, hope.

The weather stayed away up north until after 6pm but then the wind came up and was nasty.

As for next Sunday I will be attending but I don't know for how long or when yet. We have 2 graduations that day (2 different schools at two differnt times)of a nephew and a niece. I'll work it out just not sure how yet.
