Hey! You could ride East and escort me back to Kansas!! :cooldevil:

I will be posting on the road and yes, I'll post some pictures and give you a status report along the way at nights from the hotel. :grinner: The plan is Kansas, Missouri, Southern Illinios, Southern Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Not sure if I'm taking the Northern or Southern route back home just depends if Cyote61 rides back with me or not. I plan on returning on 6/22. The trip should be around 3,000 miles. Keri and I are ready to go!!

Hey Everyone! We have left the windy state of Kansas and currently have parked for the night in Shiloh, IL which is almost 500 miles from Andover. The Wing and trailer did really well today and Keri wasn't bad either!!:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1: (Just kidding, she did great!)

Did not run into any rain at all...............

I promised the KANWINGers that I would post so people would know how the trip was going and if we were doing OK. So here is the report I promised!

Day 1 - Andover, KS to Shiloh, IL (488.6 miles) started out with eggs and sausage around 6 am (Yes, Patch......."Word to the skillet") departed at 7:15am after checking weather, which they said was raining in the Topeka/KC area when we left. We missed this opportunity to ride in the rain as the weather had moved off by the time we got there.

Did not get a drop of rain all day...........How unusual! Did get the usual crosswinds though for the first 200 miles of the trip......Reminded me of Fredonia but much worse!

No problems (Thank goodness) and are beeded down for the night. Plan tomorrow is to ride thought the rest of Southern IL, Southern IN, and have Keri looking for the "bluegrass" through KY and end up in Knoxville, TN to meet Dubswing. Then overnight in Pigeon Forge, TN. This will leave a easy ride on Friday through the Smoky Mountains to Asheville, NC and then to our final destination in Charlotte for the weekend!

Thanks for the PM's and phone calls to check on us! So far, so good!!!

Here's the link to Day 1 pictures:

OK, Bill...I'll take that as a no, for the 6/21 & 22 :dude:

Glad to learn you & Keri are sharing some quality time...if there's a better way to spend time, it hasn't occured to me.     Perfect timing on your departure...guess you heard about our weather last night.

We're planning to ride out of here after Sun...anywhere it ain't raining.  It's looking like MN...ought to be pretty up there.  We'll plan our 1st stop, then it'll be like the "A sailor went to sea, sea, sea, to see what ....

Hey everyone! Were down and safe for the evening in Knoxville, TN.

Day 2 highlights: (1,003 miles to this point and 253 to go)

Indiana (no offense to people from there or live there) stinks!! Man, we had more foul odors in that state and no, they didn't come from me!:P More cow pens and chickens and 90+ temps made for a hot but halfway enjoyable day............Trying to pick up a little time ended up costing us 1.5 hours in construction at the I-64/75 interchange! It was helmets off, bike off, and kickstand down for well over 1 hour and we were in the right lane of I-64! :X

We run into a little shower about 35 miles North of Knoxville, TN but Keri and I thought it felt good!! :cheeky1: She has been a real trooper and this is the second day of 500 miles and no complaints out of her at all. Frankly, she wanted to keep going but I asked her "how can she see the Smokey Mountains in the dark?" She finally agreed that she couldn't see in the dark just like she couldn't see bluegrass in Kentucky.

We did make a stop at the birthplace of Col. Sanders to check out the museum and the history of KFC in Corbin, KY. In honor of our beloved Col Chris Sanders. :cooldevil:

Went to take the first picture to post here and the camera died. So I called Patch to mark this event!!!

Hope everybody is doing well and see everybody when I get back on the 23rd! I'll keep posting when I can but plan on doing 253 miles tomorrow across I-40 through Asheville, NC then on to our old stomping grounds in Charlotte to visit old friends and neighbors.

After a few days there, we are heading South to Greenville, SC to do exactly the same and I have some friends coming up from South Ga to meet us there and ride bikes. (Mountains etc.) Then after a few days of that, I am heading down to Atlanta to meet Mrs. Flyone who will be on a business trip there and drop my passenger off with her who in turn is going to LA (Lower Alabama) to visit family and stay for 3 weeks. Debbie will return to Atlanta after the weekend and fly back to Wichita. By that time I should be heading west back to Wichita and we should meet up about the same time. Hellaof a plan huh?:cooldevil:

Should be 3,000 miles by the time I return to Kansas. So NO! I don't think I want to ride on the 22nd! :cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

Oh wait a minute...........I will be riding on that date coming back home!!

I am glad your having a safe and fun trip. It wont be long and you will have 3 times more miles on your bike than I have. I will have to do something about that. I bet your glad you got that trailer. Did you air up the spare?

Hey Rick, Yes to both questions...............The only thing wrong with the spare was it didn't have any air in it! Maybe the PO wanted to recirculate the air? :baffled:

Put air in after you noticed it was flat.........it still has the same Kansas air in that I left with. Go figure!

I highly recommend a trailer for folks who do long distance rides! What a difference this year's trip has already made compared to overloading the wing last year going to Ohio and back. The bike isn't overloaded and we have room for two suitcases, leathers, two overnight bags, tools, tire tool and jack (just in case), laptop, bike cover, and several other items as well and room to spare. The bike is empty with the exception our helmets in the trunk when we stop for food or overnight and a lot more room as well for suveneers (sp?) Where last year we had to ship a box home from Ohio last year and we used everything we packed.

Debbie was so pleased to get a box from us during last year's ride but wasn't so pleased to open it and find nothing but dirty clothes!! We didn't have room to add a sheet of paper and a pen! Nothing new came home from that trip!

So yes, we are very pleased...........

Everyone be careful............Checking The Weather Channel concerning tomorrow's ride and I'm hearing about severe weather around Wichita and the tornado around Derby.

Well if those coming to the Beach Party can get my wife more excited about riding the wing maybe I'll be able to make some of these closer meets or gatherings.

Ok Last update before Sunday. Winger77 will be calling me Saturday to give an update on his progress. I plan on meeting him somewhere along I-70 - probably just east of Lawrence at the fuel stop - and riding into Topeka with him.
I have offered to escort him to dinner - probably going to go to Boss Hawgs for some KC region BBQ .

Drop me a line if you would like to join us.

Ty
