This thread is the preliminary discussion. This ride is being led by Homebrew but he will need all of our help and input  (Which knowing our group, that's not a problem!)

The discussion started after KANWINGS 1 was completed and has been talked about as a two day ride into the Ozark Mountains! This will be a great ride and very scenic!! :cooldevil:

The general discussion is for this ride to take place in the October timeframe to see the changing of the colors. :D

Please assist Homebrew in anyway possible as I will do the same. :grinner:

Tough timing for me & Sharon.

We'll both be up to our ears, with the new school year.  Maybe we could make an over-nighter, though....We've done it before.

KANWINGS 2 has only 2 official rides per year [maybe change name to Sissy-Wings]???  October should be more like KANWINGS 15 or 20.

Where abouts in the Ozarks will we be heading?

Popeye, that's not true.........KANWINGS has many rides and get togethers (like tomorrow) but we just haven't been offically calling them KANWINGS 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc. etc.

I think we're up to KANWINGS 1.6 to this point! :clapper: We'll figure out how many rides we've had tomorrow at breakfast at present and get the number straight...........That will take all of our memories to make that happen!

Don't worry, you've missed the last couple of rides and we called you "sissy!!!" :cheeky1::cheeky1:

Seriously though, I think you have a good point, we need to track the get togethers  and rides by number just so we know how many rides this new formed group does in a year, I think that would be interesting. Great idea! :clapper:The short rides will have a decimal number and the BIG RIDES will start another whole number (like my math teacher speak???

As far as where we are going in the Ozarks?? That is up for discussion like everything else we do and ride...........so throw something out there! That's what johnmac did and we ended up doing that ride! That's the cool thing about our group, no chain of command and we're a democracy!

Psss. Don't tell anybody but Cloud9 and I are already talking about KANWINGS 3 next year to the Grand Canyon!!! Cloud9 and I will lead this ride hopefully but it is in the real preliminary stages......... I will start a thread on that later but we want to get KANWINGS 2 (big ride) under our belts and see what we learn from it!!

Now that I think about it...........we will probably have 15 rides in this year which is pretty good considering that we really just formed this group 5 months into the year!

See you and Sharon tomorrow!!!! :cooldj::cooldevil:

I heard about the Mem day ride I missed....& you all called me "Lucky"....after swimmin' home.

However, I am a slow-learner & will be at Fredonia tomorrow despite the 60% Thunderstorms & 50 mph winds at 1 p.m.

For the Ozarks Ride [KANWINGS v2.x], maybe a close stop for us one-niters the 1st night?  i.e. Lake of the Ozarks.

Patch and I last night figured out how many rides KANWINGS since we started. :waving:

This is how the numbering system works so we know how many rides we do a year and keep track.:baffled:

The big, long, major rides will have there own number. (example: KANWINGS 1, [The KS, NE, and MO trip] KANWINGS 2,[The Ozark Mountains trip in October] KANWINGS 3 [Grand Canyon??] etc. etc.)

The get togethers and smaller rides will be a decimal to the last major ride. (example: KANWINGS 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and so on):grinner:

The Fredonia trip was KANWINGS 1.9! :clapper::clapper::clapper: (which means we have done 10 rides to this point).

It will be interesting to see how many rides we get in during a year period and the friends made along the way! I would like to see our trips cover the state so that everyone can participate. For example, we don't want to do everything south so that folks like johnmac and anybody else who wants to come to have a hard time being able to get there. So suggestions for rides are more than welcome and we'll do it as this is what KANWINGS is all about! :cooldevil:

Ozarks in autumn??!?!?!?!

Count me in!

Don't know a whole lot about the area but I'd be happy to assist in any way I can.

Color change is supposed to be around Oct 15, but it can only be predicted a few days in advance.

Here is a site to check: http://www.ozarkmtns.com/foliage/index.asp

Ozarks sounds good to me, but work is busy that time of year, so I would be good for a Sat./Sun. ride.

Weekend works best for me & Sharon, too.  Busy work time.

Heading to the Rocky Mountains in the morning...at least one night in the Ft Collins area, then...no real plans or timeframes...

See you all when we get back...a few days..a week?  :baffled:

Me & Sharon were thinking of going to Lake of the Ozarks on the 12th or 13th of June & just staying for a night...sure is purdy over there.

We stay on the east end & then ride over to the west side to the big lookout, tour the park, eat, etc.  It's a great one-niter, if anyone wants to ride....before the triple digits set in. :321:
